I'm booked for February 20 and I booked it over a year ago. DVC members do not get any priority for booking. You have the same room availability as everyone else.

We booked early and all we could get was a veranda room too. I'm wondering if this ship has more higher end rooms and less of the standard rooms? We decided to go for it anyway, how fabulous and fun to have the excuse to get a great room!
No they don't. DCL allows a certain number of rooms to be booked by DVC members using points but does not "hold" any rooms for DVC only. It is possible , but not likely, that an entire cruise would be booked with cash reservations and not a single room booked with points.
I booked a cruise 2 weeks ago for May 12th. I was told by member services that there are no cruises available on the Dream to book with points until October due to high demand.
We are sailing on May1st! I nooked Dec 23rd and was only able to get a verandah SR. I am hoping that we will be able to switch to a less expensive room. However, we are vacationing with our neighbors, so the date is set.
At the time I booked, there were only DVC rooms available in October 2011. That is in order to use your points. Going forward, I would like to do this. The dream being in its first year probably had something to do with this.
I think it has to do with all of the free cruises DVC gave away as an incentive to purchase points. DVC won't fess up to it but it makes sense if you think about it.
I was trying for a month to get an inside or oceanview cabin on a May 2011 sailing of the Dream (cash, not points). Even tried through a travel agent who supposedly had a block of rooms but only the verandahs and up were available. Then, last week, I just did a quick check on the Disney Cruise web site and, lo and behold, an inside cabin and an oceanview popped up. Oceanview was only a tiny bit more than inside so I booked that. Keep checking especially as you get close to the final payment dates. Sometimes you get lucky.
