Has anyone been turned down for a concierge paid upgrade at WL at checkin?

Also, is Christmas time usually packed at the WL? I am surpised that there are still AP openings there in September. I am not sure whether to reserve concierge or wait until we get there to decide. I tried to ask on the WL FAQ board but it has been closed to new questions.

Any upgrade is going to be dependant on availability. I have called WL several times trying to upgrade to Concierge in October and have been told it is booked solid for the time I am there.

If it is something you want, I would go ahead and try to book it now. Part of the service is trip planning and PS (assistance) services.

I'm wondering about doing the same thing for a January trip. Should I just call WL directly and ask about upgrades or should I book the concierge rate through Dreams (currently $418 / night) ahem!

I have an annual pass and am hoping that I might be able to get a discount in due course anyway.

After reading many posts about concierge service, I decided no to wait until check-in to ask about paying for an upgrade. Our initlal room ressie was under Disneys' Armed Forces Salute offer, so I wasn't sure what they would tell me. I called central reservations and a rude CM told me no concierge rooms were availble. I decided to call central reservations again the following day and low and behold I was able to get two rooms (we are traveling with family) upgraded to concierge for our late September trip. So my advise is call once, and if you don't get the information you want, call again!!

WL is a very popular resort during the holidays because the decorations are so beautiful. It's also a great time to enjoy the massive fireplace and cozy atmosphere is when the weather might be cooler.
