Has anyone been to Race Rock?

Someone I work with just got back from WDW. They stayed off property and ate at Race Rock on International. We will be going in December staying at POP and not renting a car. Is it worth the trip to go to Race Rock? DH and I are Nascar fans by the way. Also, has anyone seen any drivers there? The web site says "you never know who might show up." -Thanks!

Hi from another NASCAR fan!

We stay onsite at Disney and always schedule in a couple of non-park days so our feet can rest. We drive to Orlando so we have a car available and we've eaten at Race Rock on two different trips on those non-park days & really enjoyed it. The food was good as was the service. There is a LOT of racing memorabilia to look at and they have some nice merchandise in the gift shop. We've never seen a driver the times we've been but there have been some colorful local characters there!

Several coupon books have a Race Rock coupon to "buy 2 entrees/get a free appetizer". We did that the first time (3 of us) and couldn't finish our food...the servings are huge. (I think the appetizer we got listed at $10.00.) The second time my DH wasn't with us so we just ordered an appetizer and a dessert and shared both and we were stuffed! Here is a pic of the dessert we had...I think it was called Banana Split Cheesecake. It was very rich and sooooo good.

Race Rock is a great place to eat. My DS is a Nascar freak and he loves this place. The food is plentiful and surprisingly very good. You can find a coupon for your free appetizer on the internet as well if you do a search.

Yup - we've been there too.. My son-in-law is a HUGE Nascar fan and all kidding aside, that was the HIGHLIGHT of his entire two-week trip!

Be advised though - it's VERY noisy..

C. Ann....you are right on about the noise...loud music all the time we were there...they should provide earplugs!

My husband and sons are fans and so we went. We had a lot of fun... why we enjoyed the atmosphere and looking at all the memorabelia. My son was young then and we took a picture of him next to Jeff Gordan.(just a fake in a case) We bought t-shirts. They have nice shirts that at the time you didn't find else where.(still haven't) We were thinking of going again. We did not see any drivers, but saw a biiiiiiggggg monster truck in the parking lot.

We're big race fans (lots of different series) and loved Race Rock. BUT, if I read your post correctly you are staying at POP and are NOT going to have a car. How are you planning to get there? If by cab, expect to pay almost as much as your meal will cost for the fare. We went from the Poly to the Boardwalk and it was $14 for one way. Race Rock is a LOT farther away than that. I don't mean to be a downer but wanted you to be prepared.

Nascar fans here too, Only 2 days till the Pepsi, and we will be there,

then one more day and we will be in Disney ,

We love Race Rock and have eaten there many times. Never seen any drivers though.

Race Rock is a great place to eat, i work for the Red Bull F1 team so it was right up my street!!

I expected a themed resturant to be a bit naff but it was one of the best places i ate. The portions are amazing and the quality is second to none for price.

It was even better knowing that one of my work mates built the Newman Haas Indy Car that rotates above the bar

That's one of the things I was trying to figure out. We're planning to take a Lynx bus from TTC to Sea World, so I might check in to see how much trouble it would be to go on the way back from Sea World. Pardon me for not knowing the geography of the area - might not exactly be on the way home but... While were off property already...

Selling DH on this is harder that I thought - he's sortof got "plans" already - so who knows if he'll be flexible enough to change the plan with only 5 months before the trip

Only 2 days till the Pepsi, and we will be there,

We were there for practice and qualifying on the last day of our Disney honeymoon in July 1994! We couldn't stay for the race but just seeing the cars on the track was awesome! I like to tell the story about when we first walked up to the track. I didn't even know the cars were on the track on the backstretch. (You can't hear them they are so far away - and there were only 4 out at that time.) Well I walked right up to the fence next to the track and here they come - I jumped so high! I'm used to short tracks. We're always between the start/finish and turn 1 at Richmond, and I've been to Martinsville once. Maybe when DH and I eventually plan an adults only Disney trip we can do it in Feb or July to make it to one of the races.

We've been to Race Rock and it was awesome. We ordered one Onion Explosion for a starter and the four of us ate it but we had to admit defeat - it was enormous! But ever so tasty!

My DH really wants to go here. I've gone to their website and showed my kids. They think it looks cool. We've been to Nascar Cafe in TN and they loved it so we are looking forward to the Racerock.
