Has anyone been to Legoland in CA?

If so, how was it? Is it worth going to? We're starting to plan our 2007 trip to CA, and DH read about legoland. At the time, our DDs will be 5.5 and 3 yo. Any other suggestions other than of course Disneyland, & Universal?

The last time we went to CA our DD was 3 1/2. We spent most of our time in San Diego. The zoo and Balboa park in general are great. They also have a Sea World there and the beaches are fantastic.

Your kids are the perfect age for LegoLand and it is a fantastic park. My kids were 10, 9 and 6 when we went and they all loved it. The rides are fun, what they do with legos is astonishing, the shows are nice, and the lines aren't long (at least when we went). The best part is that parents like it too! While i would call it more of an amusement park then a theme park, it is well worth a day. We got there when the park opened and left when it closed at five that night. We easily could have stayed another three hours. Remeber that Carlsbad isn't exactly near Anaheim and LA. It's closer to San Diego and SeaWorld.

Also check out the California Science Center in LA. It is great for kids, although yours might be a little young. La Jolla is a beautiful town to walk through if you get down to southern California. The caves on the beach are interesting as is the seal pool, but half a day tops. And bring a lot of money if you go shopping there.

Oh yes, Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo and various museums in that vicinity are worth a trip.

As a matter of fact, we spent only one day at Disney (I should have never gone to the California Adventure - we all thought it was a waste of valuable time) and the rest in the San Diego area. It's one of the most beautiful places in our great country.

Hope this helps.

We did the Sea World, Zoo and Legoland trip twice and I think your children are at a great age to enjoy Legoland. What worked well for us was to fly in to one airport like LAX and then drive down to San Diego, spend a couple nights there and next we drove up to Legoland, spent the day there and then drove up further and spent the night at Disneyland and enjoyed the rest of our vacation at Disney and flew out of LAX. Please check the Legoland website when you are planning...when we went which was about 2 years ago and the year before, they were only open 5 days out of the week.

We went to Legoland in 2002, and our kids were 7 and 9. They loved it! We also went to the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. I would highly recommend those places as well.

We went to Legoland when DD was almost 10. She was borderline too old-- she likes rollercoaster and 'big' rides.

Your kids are at the perfect age for this park.

You can get a $6 off coupon with the Entertainment book at Legoland ... up to 6 1-day tickets. Something to keep in mind since an adult ticket is nearly $50!

I lived in So Cal for about 27 years and have done just about everything there is to do there at least once. The last 9 years or so were with kids, so if you have any specific questions feel free to PM and I'll do my best to help you. It's a great vacation spot. :sunny:
