Has anyone been to an NBA game?

My boyfriend is a huge sports fan (doesn't matter what type...he'll watch and play anything!) so I thought it would be a nice treat for him if I bought us tickets to a basketball game whilst we're in Florida in November. I actually think it looks quite fun too and want to buy a big foam finger whilst we're there!

Anyway, I've been having a look online for tickets etc but, since I'm not familiar with the NBA, I'm finding all the terminology quite confusing. We're considering spending a weekend in Miami whilst in Florida and there's a Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics game on when we're going to be there. Through the official Miami Heat website, I found season tickets being resold on their online marketplace. I can get decent seats for $71 each which I think is an okay price considering it's such a huge game. It looks like the tickets will be emailed to me and I will print them out at home so won't need to pay extortionate postage costs.

Has anybody done this before and, if so, did it work out okay?

Are the games safe or can they get quite rowdy like certain football matches in the UK?

Went to 2 magic games a few years ago, managed to get friendly with a shop owner who had a season ticket. Have been to various sporting events and tbe whole experience and atmoshpere at tbe basketball was superb, crowd are all their to enjoy it and unlike our football there tends to be no away supporters, so that reduces the risk of an intense atmosphere. The whole game lasted about 2 1/2 hours and you were kept entertained throughout, even during every stoppage.
If I could go again I would have no hesitation.

Been to a few orlando magic games. Been lucky enough to just get tickets on the day at the arena box office. Very cheap compared to a premier league football game. Tickets started at around 25 dollars. Very safe and no trouble at all! I had and still have no idea of the rules etc but its just a fun night out. Something different for your trip. Sadly my last few trips have been outside the season which is a shame as I know my boyfriend would love it! It's a proper 'American' night out!
