In particular, West Africa? We are going on a mission trip to Ghana, West Africa. I would love to hear of anyone's experiences. Also, if you have taken malaria medication let me know how that went. We are taking Malarone because it is supposed to have fewer side effects. I have read several travel books, but it's always great to get first hand knowledge.

Thanks!

My dd went last year from May 15-June 1. It is late fall over there and almost Winter. Except there winters get down to around 50 if that. I think the area you will be in recommends Malaria medicine. My dd flew into Johannisburg and traveled North. She actually traveled with her college and attended 2 weeks of college in the Criminal Justice classes and worked with the police, their DNR-poachers, etc. What she found amusing; guides telling her how these rich Americans come over to hunt. She was told that the industry needs these tourist to hunt out the very old animals, and thus it gives work to the people, cleaning and preparing the dead animals.

Good luck with your missionary work. My daughter took books for the university and gave away almost all her clothes. About the only thing she came back with was the clothes on her back and a few souvineers.

I have not been, but I would very much like to go on a mission trip to Africa. I think that you will come back changed from the experience.

Many prayers for you.

My BIL is from Cameroon (Just to the west, I believe from Ghana).

Thanks for the replies! Yes, malaria is definately a problem in the area we are going to be in. We have already planned on giving away our clothes. I just have to remember to take enough to get me through a couple of days in London on the way home. It must have been a wonderful experience for your dd!

Cameroon is pretty close to Ghana. I think Nigeria and Togo are between them. Thank you for the good wishes and prayers! You can never have enough of those! :wave2:
