I went to one this past weekend in Dallas. I have never been to one and a dear friend had an extra ticket and said that I HAD to go. There were 7 of us total. ElizK was with us too.

It took me awhile to get comfortable with the format. I enjoyed it but didn't think I really "got it" until I got home. I told DH about the entire conference. The women and their stories were amazing and stunning.

On Sunday, DH gave me a huge hug and said that I was different. I didn't seem so angry as before. I didn't realize how angry I must have been to him and others.

If you get an opportunity to attend one of these, RUN TO IT WITH OPEN ARMS AND AN OPEN MIND!

The last speaker, Luci Swindol, ended her presentation with this phrase, "Work as if you don't need the money, Love as if you have never been hurt, and Dance as if no one is looking." If I can get to that point, I will be the happiest person on earth.

I;ve never attended one of these conferences. Sounds like you got a lot from your time there.

I went last year and had a wonderful time!! Our church tries to go as a group every 2 years. Next we are going to see Beth Moore, and then will go back the next year.

My mom was a strong supporter of the Women of Faith groups. When she died almost a year ago, I kept her Women of Faith shirt. Maybe someday I'll give it a shot.

I recommend them for any woman regardless of your age or what you do.

I'll be attending the Philadelphia one in 3 weeks and I am so looking forward to attending again.

It is so wonderful to hear of your experience mt2. If you want to go even further with that wonderful thing you're experiencing, call around to the churches in your areas to see what they have to offer the women. Some have awesome, amazing programs. My church actually has studies that are written by the "Women of Faith." They are fantastic!!

I'm happy for you:sunny:

I missed the last one here but did go to see Beth Moore earlier this month in KY. It was great! Luci Swindol is a wonderful woman. I love reading anything that is "Women of Faith". Thanks for sharing. Your story is inspiring!

I used to go to Christian Women's meetings....is this similar?
They were always so inspirational but I drifted away during the years our business was so busy.

CRB #33 - I belong to a womans group at my church but I haven't been able to attend meetings in nearly a year +. DH travels alot (he is in London now and Denmark next week) and the meeting seem to be when he is gone. It is a bit frustrating.

I hope you enjoy your conference in Philly. I have to say that the big surprise for me was that I enjoyed Marilyn Meberg the best. I didn't think I would like her that much based on how she introduced her collegues. I was so wrong! She moved me the most.

Let me know how yours went. I was thinking that I might like to attend next years but they sold 13,000 tickets between Fri night and Sat early noon. Nose bleed sets were left. We were 3rd row floor (Comp tickets). Plus, we maybe moving to Denver at the end of this year or early next.

DisMn- It might be the same. I don't know. This was my first time ever to anything like this. Our church (Catholic) is more reserved than the production and 16,000 women that were there.

I have been and it was awesome!! Chonda Peirce was there and OMGOSH I havent ever laughed so hard in my entire life!!

She was Nazarene PK just like me and it was like listening to my life story when she talked about growing up in the Church!!!

Keep an eye out mt2. I know because they had sold out last year's event so quick, they added a date 6 months later in Philly! Then that one sold out so fast! LOL!

dismn, I don't know if it's the same. Probably not. This is a group of women who's "trade" name is "Women of Faith." If you don't see that name attached, it is not the same group.

The meetings may be similar although these are usually held in huge venues 16,000 to 20,000 seating. They are held over the course of two days. Friday night and all day Saturday. Then that's it.

These women travel from city to city throughout the year! They all take turns speaking and are just so gifted in what they do. They then have music in between, usually big names in the Contemporary Christian Music circuit. Last year we saw CeeCee Whinens (sp?). Just awesome. :sunny:

I attended last year's WOF conference in CT with my Mom, two cousins and an aunt. We had a terrific time..... but I know what you mean about "not really getting it" until you get home and have time to reflect on the message! We are unable to attend this year, unfortunately. But I'm getting baptized this weekend.... that's exciting!...............P

DW has attended some smaller Women's retreats this year and a Beth Moore conference in Mobile earlier this Summer which she said was incredible.

I had hoped she would go to Women of Faith in Atlanta but it was just a bad weekend for it, which is why she was able to attend some of the smaller ones.

We have a handful of Chonda Pierce CDs and yes, she is hilarious.

I do recall when a group of our ladies went to a Sandi Patti/Chonda Pierce concert last Spring.

By coincidence I saw at least 3 other dads from my church with their kids at Chick-Fil-A where we bought them fast food and turned them loose in the indoor playground.

See, we can take care of them while y'all go to the conference! :teeth:

Well, okay..overnight is way different!

pjlla. - Congratulations! such an exciting time for you.

We had Kathy Tricolli (sp) and Natalie Green (?). As the singers. They were really good. I have never heard of them but I usually listen to Bear and the Big Blue House. LOL

Our other guest speaker was Laurie from Trading Spaces. She was interesting to listen to. She did not have the charisma as the regular women but she did well.
