OK... Now im not asking because im against events like this... asking because I like facts. I have read in the UG that people did not enjoy being either at the parks or at the AS resorts due to these competitions. That the girls are loud at the resorts and that they dont have the Indiana Jones Show because of the competition and practicing going on. Has anybody had experience of being around for this? A friend was at disney last year and said while at the resort the girls were relentlessy trying to chase her sons down..... loud in the pool and rude to many adults... I just found out that it is during the time we will be there this time and im wondering how its gone for others.

I wasnt there for the cheerleading competion but I was there for a band competion. We stayed at AKL and there was none of them there. We did run into an issue one day at MK. It was very crowded ( it was our first day, their last day) and we ended up behind a group of kids who were fooling around getting ready to ride Small World. One boy was just a PITA, he kept taking pictures of everyone in line, and flashing pictures in their face. He almost got hit because he tried to take a picture of a small girl butt in lines and her father flipped. Lucky for him the got on the boat before the father could do anything. They tried to put us on the boat with them and hubby refused. But the entire ride was ruined because they were yelling, splashing and standing up.. on our way to HDDR we saw them again and the kid noticed us.. he came running and started flashing pictures of hubby in the face. Hubby grabbed the camera and threw it in the trash.. He kids chaperone came up and started yelling at hubby and hubby yelled back... of course security came up and separated them and asked what the problem was. Luckly the other family in line with us for small world small saw what happened and backed our story. The kid got kicked out of the park for the rest of his trip and They took the camera and developed it and gave us the pix and negatives. We also were given a free dinner to where ever we wanted to eat... Im glad we got the pictures because there were a quite a few pictures of my chest!:rolleyes2

We where there last year and it was a NIGHTMERE. :headache:
We stayed at the All Stars and they had blocked out 2 complete buildings, except our room. They practiced wherever they could find a space on the grass, all over the hotel complex, and right outside our room. The parks where packed and the buses a nightmere, the hotle food court was impossable.
We would never go to WDW during there competion again, they are mainly at the cheaper hotels, but that being said we did see some staying at the Grand.

ok so this is like the week of feb 16 threw say like the 23 right... only ONE weeks right... b/c i DO NOT want to be there doing something like that... i want a vacation not a head ache... sorry i cheered for 3 years in high school.... i don't need to deal with teens on my vacation (more then needed anyways) :)

Keep in mind...there is high school national championships and all star nationals as well. Those are just the two major ones actually held at Disney. There are also various other National championship competitions for all star teams through other cheer companies that take place in other local venues that bring many to stay in and around Disney many other times such as at Gaylord Palms Convention Center. These run all the way through April.:cheer2:

We were there one year during a cheerleading competition. We stayed at Wildnerness Lodge and we didn't notice any cheerleaders there. We noticed them at MGM because they were actually competing there - they were just dressed in uniforms and such. And we did see a group of girls at MK. I had actually forgotten about it until I saw this thread - so, that probably tells you how much it bothered me. :)

We have been there during several of the Cheer weekends. The worst cheer weekend was about 3 years ago when they had an international event. The college girls aren't too bad, definitely better than a soccer weekend. High school girls are definitely a nuisance, try to avoid a value resort. Cheers!

The Big UCA nationals will be held Feb 9-11. There will be Worlds in April. The college cheer and danc eare already over. There won't be anything after April. Due to the fact that they will start training and having competions during the fall and end of Dec. So they can qualified for the Nationals that are held at WDW. I made sure when I planned are trip that we weren't going during that time. Crazy thing is, I've actually competed there a couple of years. I knew I didn't want to be there at that time. Though the squad I was on, we would not have been aloud to horse around. I come from a big school, they were pretty strict with us.

You can google UCA, NCA, and World. They are the main cheerleading competions.

Most of the girls we ran into were pretty well behaved but there is ALOT of them and they are loud. (Not so much obnoxious loud, more loud in general since they always seem to use that "cheer" voice :) ) We never had any big problems with them. They seem well supervised in general, although there are always some that aren't. They do seem to be everywhere and I would avoid the Values if at all possible. We have had bad experiences with the school class trips though. :sad2: I would definately take cheerleaders over them! LOL

Also, I wanted to mention, there is all different kind of group competitions at WDW...not just cheerleaders. They have football, soccer, dance, band etc throughout the year. It's hard to avoid them completely sometimes. And since they are large groups of kids they tend to stay at the Values.
