has anyone been before in january? If you have could you please tell me how your holiday was thanks

Rings, depends what you mean really. We have been 4 times in Jan.

Pro's: Cheaper, cooler, quieter, no lines

Cons: Rehabs, can be chilly in the morning/evenings

Personally as someone without kids this suits us to go out of season. Some of the major rides might be in rehab in the slow season but hey thats a minor detail. We save big bucks and dont have to queue for anything. It can be chilly on occasions so a light jacket might be required but its usually 60-70's.

We love it and wouldn't change.

Had a great time but it can get quite cold, we had frost in the morning on a couple of occasions, afternoons were warm.

thanks for the replys just first time to disney and just starting to think maybe we were going at the wrong time what time do most of the parks open and close also will there shows and parades on? we are just really going for the rides we are taking no children with us did it get warm enough for shorts and t shirts?

We went in January a few years ago and towards the end of our stay in certainly got warm enough for shorts and t shirts. But then we've also been in December and needed a sweater and a jacket!

The weather can vary greatly. I pack for pleasant spring like weather - light trousers, t shirts etc, and then add a couple of sweatshirs or light sweaters and a pair of shorts. You will probably have a jacket with you as you need one when departing from and arriving back in the UK at that time of year!!

There may be a few rides being rehabbed when you go, but probably only one major ride per park. They still have parades and fireworks, though the MK evening ones may just be at weekends - hopefully not. There will certainly be enough to do, with less people to have to share it with, to make your holiday extremely enjoyable and just as good as any other time of year.

We're off there ourselves next January, so it must be a good time to go! :teeth:

Yes we saw all the parades, and the shows were great.

We took a light weight fleece each and still wore shorts and tee's under them. Usually by about 10 am it had warmed up enough to get rid of the fleece, needed it again once it had gone dark.

I think it went dark around 5 ish???

We went in January last year and there never seemed to be any queues compared with March this year.

So, next year we've booked to go end of January / beginning of February.

What a compromise!

We were there this January. When we arrived on 1st, it was unseasonably warm, i.e. HOT! :p According to the guage in the car, the outside air temperature was well into the 90s, but I guess there are factors which can skew that. Even so, it was easily mid - high 80s. After 4-5 days of that, we then had a cold snap - 1 day, maybe 2, and then it warmed up again.

All that said, I think if you're going in January, you need to plan for cooler weather and then just consider it a bonus if it's warmer.

We were surprised at how busy it was for the first few days - presumably people still there following Christmas/New Year. After that it was quiet.

We have been in January and I thought it was great, as other people have said it’s like spring weather. We had frost some mornings and there was steam coming off the swimming pool at our villa! (I never thought I would see the day!).

I remember sitting in the Shamu Stadium with a hot chocolate! Although an excellent point of the holiday was that the lines were non existent, we could stay on rides over and over with out the cast member telling us to re join the back of the line …. Because there wasn’t a line!

I would recommend January if you don’t want it to be really hot and you are ok with a few chilly days.

Hope you have fun!

Hi there, January is a great time to go. It was a little cooler but it was wonderful. It was nippy in the mornings and in the evenings too but so long as you have a cardy or fleece or light jacket you'll be fine. There was steam rising off the pool in the mornings which was nice to see. It was lovely and warm in the pool but when you went to get out  oooh it was cold :D Universal Studios was so quiet that no express passes were going. Disney was very busy but apparently last Christmas was the busiest ever so that could be why. It's definitely a good time to go though, I'd recommend it.
