It doesn't matter what dates you plug in, 180 days out or ever, the system will NOT allow a reveration for lunch for one person.
When I talk to the dining line, they also are not able to get reservation for one. It has availablity for 2, but not one! I asked if they could modify, if we booked for two, then changed to one. The CM I was talking with must be rather inexperinced, as she kept typing questions to someone else. She was very nice, but clearly didn't know what she was doing.
She kept saying keep calling back to look for cancellations.:lmao:
If there is availability for 2, there is availability for one. Not looking for a four-top The same two-top can seat one or two. She said when they modify a dining reservation, they have to search for availability. Since there is never availability for one, it apparently seems quite impossible to get a reservation there (unless I pay the $10 no-show fee for the imaginary 2nd person.)
Don't believe me?
Try it yourself.
Plug in ANY date, for lunch for 2. Then, when you have an opening, try the same date for one. It will not ever have availability for one. If you find some, please let us know.
Solo travelers want to eat there too.:headache:

I was able to get a reservation for one last year, but they apparently no longer allow it. Try it yourself---plug in ANY dates.

LC has issues with odd numbers, especially solos. Book for 2. You won't be charged any extra fee for the other "person" not showing up since the policy is that, as long as you honor the reservation, you don't get charged.

It's a common issue throughout the ADR system (I hear 'Ohana is even worse at this) and general recommendations are to book for 2 for better availability.

REALLY?! Thank you. I had not read you don't get charged if someone doesn't show up. When did that start? That is so great! So people are not being charged?

Not sure when it started, if it was from 10/26 (when CC holds started) or after, but it's published in very clear wording on their site.

Now, as far as people being charged? It has happened, but you can get that charge reversed pretty easily, so long as you have some proof that you at least showed up. And there haven't been many reports of that over the past couple of months.

In about a month, I'll have some first hand info on things ;) as I did the same thing, either for better times or for any availability at all. Not Le Cellier in particular, but they're all on the same system.

So while I'm looking for a party of 5 I should be plugging in a party of 6 for better chances?

It's worth a shot. I know it's worked for 3 to 4 before. The only cases where this doesn't work are the actual prepaid locations (CRT, HDDR, etc).

I booked all my solo reservations for 2 with the exception of the Candlelight Processional package. Including a lunch at LeCellier.

I'm going solo and figured out that little quirk in the system when I wanted to change a couple of my times. 2 guests gave me the times I needed. Now I want to change one last thing and it doesn't matter what I put in, 11 days out isn't the time to change a 50s PT res lol.
