We are doing a split stay and have the dining plan on our reservation for the first leg of our trip. We also have it on the 2nd leg, but I am not sure if we will like the DDP....So just wondering if I keep it on my reservation and want it removed will it be a problem? I know we cannot add it at check in, so I am wondering what to do?

We do not have the free dining (who would want to cancel that;) as we are DC members.:goodvibes

With DVC, I believe you have to make the change 48 hours in advance of check-in.

That's correct, you can't do it on arrival. Any changes to the plan on a DVC reservation must be made at least 48 hours before you arrive.

There are different rules for DVC members? I was told by MS changes needed to be made prior to 48 hours but I was wondering if we realllllly do not like the DDP if they would remove it?

From everything I've ever heard - and confirming what was posted above - no, you cannot remove it once you are there. If you're so unsure, why don't you just cancel it from the 2nd part of your trip now? You'll have part of the trip with it, and part without and for the future you will know whether to do it again or not.

Nobody can cancel a dining plan on arrival. For package (non-DVC) reservations it has to be 72 hours prior to arrival, so DVC even gets an extra day to decide.

But if they are doing a split stay wouldn't s/he be able to cancel if they are staying longer than 3 nights for the first part?

That way the OP would be able to spend a day on the DDP and see if it would work for them on the second half of the trip?

They'd have to call Member Services no later than 48 hours before they check in for the second reservation. They won't be able to do it at the desk.
