Has anyone become ill after eating at....

Whispering Canyon or O'Hanna's restaurants? We had dinner at WC on Nov.3rd at approx. 6:30pm and dinner at O'H at 6pm on Nov 4th.
There we 9 of us that ate at WC and 8 at O'H. Five of us became ill during the early morning hours(Nov 6th) after arriving home on Nov. 5th.We all have the same symtoms, V & D. We did not travel on the same flights. These are the only places we ate together within the 24-72 hour time period for food poisoning (it's what I think it is) to show up. If anyone became ill after eating at these restaurants during the same time period I would appreciate hearing your story.
Thank You

I'm not sure where your getting your infomation (time period)
Our illness began approx 30-32 hrs after the dinner, all within a few hours of each other. Must be a smart virus! And to all that replied that they've eaten their before without any problems the same goes for me I've eaten at both these restaurants many times before without any problems. In fact we have been going the DW every year (twice a year a few times) since Nov. 1982 without any problems

"Food poisoning is a common, usually mild, but sometimes deadly illness. Typical symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea that occur suddenly (within 48 hours) after consuming a contaminated food or drink. Depending on the contaminant, fever and chills, bloody stools, dehydration, and nervous system damage may follow. These symptoms may affect one person or a group of people who ate the same thing (called an outbreak)."

Considering only 5 became ill though wouldn't that rule out food poisoning? Unless of course all 5 of you ate the same thing - and the rest of the group (out of the 9 and 8) didn't..

I have had food poisoning on more than one occasion - with one case being severe enough to be hospitalized for over a week - and it came on in less than 8 hours.. More along the lines of 4 to 6 hours.. :confused3

I would be willing to bet that an employee of one of those places was sick, or recovering (you can shed a stomach virus in stool for up to 3 weeks) and did not wash his or her hands well enough, therefore contaminating the food and exposing you guys to the virus all at the same. And then you guys came down with it yourself. A huge outbreak of norovirus at an Olive Garden was linked to sick workers. I hope everyone is feeling better!

Norovirus is highly contagious, more likely that everyone would get sick. I heard that the majority of stomach viruses are actually food poisoning. It can be anything - food could have touched something contaminated. And it is likely that all did not eat the same food. I was sick enough to end up in the hospital after a visit to a restaurant in Fort Myers -and it hit me about 18 hours after I ate (I know it was the clams) it also lasted for 5 days. I got better just in time to fly home from my beach vacation. :sad1:

I got violently ill at WC in Sept of 2007. I had D really bad after I ate there. I had the skillet. I was in their bathroom for a really looooong time....my husband sat there at the table by himself for awhile:lmao:
Not sure if what I ate there made me sick:confused3

I got violently ill about 3 years ago after eating at WC. It was fast--within an hour and lasted approx 12 hours. We left the next morning and I still have NO idea how I made the flight home. I felt as if I had been run over.

I have NEVER been back and will not.

I became ill after eating at WCC on Oct.20th. No one else became ill but I was the only one who ate the pulled pork bbq off the skillet. :scared1: I woke up at 3 am the next morning vomiting and I never vomit.......never!

Well 7 out of 9 became ill and we are all feeling much better. I vomited for 12 hours, I was pretty sick. I went to the doctors yesterday and I should know in a few days what made us all sick. I will post the results here.

I'm sorry, but that's about the funniest darned thing I've read in a awhile!! :lmao:

Actually, the health departments in Indiana and Ohio took the situation very seriously. I actually thought that there was a possibility that my husband might die, he was so sick. (Keep in mind that I'm a doctor, and have a pretty good idea of how sick a patient is). I hope nothing like this ever happens to anybody in your family, and, if it does, that nobody thinks it's "laugh out loud, roll on the floor" funny.

I think you're out of the standard time frame for food poisoning. I think you picked up a virus and it spread. Who's the Typhoid Mary?

Years ago DH and I got sick on pizza that we ordered from room service at the Contemporary. About 6 hours later we wished we were at a hospital. To this day, we thank God we didn't give any to our then 18 month old. I can't imagine what it would have done to him. I ended up having to get a shot to stop the vomiting.  :scared1:

I think you might actually need to read a infectious disease text. What I say is much more acurate. A few things, specifically S. aureus in grain products, specifically, fried rice, will cause illness within two hours. Otherwise, it is fairly unusual.

Delilah: I don't think Cindy was laughing at how sick your husband was, rather it was the quote that the diarrhea was an interstate investigations that was amusing. It's just not something you expect to see in every day conversation as most people do not equate diarrhea with deadly illness. I'm sure no offense was intended.

Sorry you were all so sick. Believe me, I can sympathize. I was in the hospital in June for five days with food poisoning. This was the second time I've had it, the first was years ago while in Acapulco (yes, it really was food poisoning, physician diagnosed, not Montezuma's Revenge). After the first time I told people I hope I'm not that sick when I die and then the second time was just as bad. It may take a while before you feel better. Both times it was a couple of weeks before I felt like myself again.

Our 6 year old had food poisoning from undercooked rotisserie chicken at the All Star Movies food court. It showed about 3 hours after eating. Disney would do nothing and we had a $200. visit to the ER. He got over it about 18 hours later.

No. None of us have ever gotten sick after eating any food at WDW.
