Has anyone actually paid for resort parking yet?

We have stayed twice now since the new resort parking policy and have yet to see any charges for parking. How does Disney know you have a vehicle there? Maybe we are doing something wrong/right but both times we drive in, security scans our magic band and just lets us in. We already know our room number and head straight there because they text it to us so we never go to the front desk. Is that where they normally ask if you have a vehicle? We also are Annual Passholders, but I didn't see where that was an exemption?

Did you make the hotel reservations before or after March 21? That was the cutoff date for whether or not a parking charge is incurred, according to Disney. If you booked after that date, no idea...

Yeah, we have booked after the date for both of them. Once at the end of April when I booked the same morning we were showing up for Saratoga Springs, and then this last weekend we stayed at Caribbean and nothing called out for a parking charge.

We did a 3 way split stay in June all booked after the deadline and weren’t charged for parking at any of the resorts. Once we even went to pay off our balance with a gift card and asked when they charge parking, to make sure it wasn’t charged after we had thought we paid of the entire balance, and still weren’t charged when I checked all of the folios at the end. I don’t know why, but I’m not going to complain!

We were charged at POR in July. Did on-line checkin, never went to the front desk, never were asked if we had a car. I assume the front gate attendant saw we were arriving by car and passed along the information somehow.

We don't drive so it's not something we have to deal with but I have asked about how they know, specifically because of online check in and many guests getting texts to go direct to room, bypassing the front desk totally.

I was told that the guards at the gate are the ones that will be the ones to note the accounts regarding vehicles. So I assume when the cars aren't getting recorded on to your account by the guards you aren't charged.

My parents were charged for parking without ever interacting with a guard (only scanned Magic Bands) or the front desk. My Dad was gone with the car for a couple days in the middle of their stay and they were only charged for the nights the car was actually there overnight. :confused3

We were charged to park our car at the YC in June. We did interact with the guard when we checked in and I assumed he made note that we had a car.

This is very easy to circumvent. The next time you pull up to security on arrival day, when he says "Welcome Home", you reach out to shake the guards hand and just happen to slip him a little green piece of paper with a picture of our 7th President Andrew Jackson on it. :cool2:

Lol! Hopefully next time we’ll be flying. We usually fly, but decided to drive and make a stop in Savannah. I hate, hate, hate driving.

I've done the drive twice in my life from Rhode Island and I don't have to tell you, but these legs were made for flyin'.

we just got back from CR. Valet parked with our handicapped tag was told it was complemtary. then when i got the bill, i got charged the $24 for parking in the regular lot. got it taken care of but it cost me a penny something to do with the taxes and how they calculate it. The bill showed $23.53 for parking and $1.47 for tax. I’m guessing it came from the gate guard because we told the desk we valet parked. Still had a fun trip.

That still fits with how the CM said it worked because it would be by human interaction via the guard or electronic interaction via the MB at the scan point. Either way, he said was determined by entering the security gate. Based on reports here it's clear it can still be hit and miss, for whatever reasons. Either electronic failures or human failures to properly note the accounts. As long as they leave the parking lots open to exit and continue to do direct to room check in's I can't see how they'll ever capture 100% of the cars. Maybe Disney decided there's an acceptable loss percentage? No clue.

Just spent Friday and Saturday night at YC. We entered the gate via magic band and not the guard. I parked the car and didn’t touch it until we checked out on Sunday. I was not charged for parking.
