Has anybody ever had surgery in Mexico?

Thanks everyone. I had no idea that the wait times varied so much and that I could go basically anywhere in Ontario. I spent the day calling surgeons yesterday and found one in Stratford, my consult is next Friday and the receptionist told me that its not usually very long between the consult and surgery. I'm in the Windsor area and apparently that was the norm here, but by driving a couple of hours I can speed things up by a lot. Again, thanks for the advice, my doctor didn't tell me that I had options and thankfully had never had to use our healthcare up until now.

That's wonderful news - well, as wonderful as it can be given your circumstances. Hope things go well, and you start your road to recovery soon.

I am so glad you are able to get into for the consult much quicker than originally told.
For those that said I would wait for any non-life threatening surgery before going to Mexico - my grandmother died from untreated gall stones. My brother had some liver damage from his gall stones that would have been life threatening without prompt treatment. Gall stones can be a life threatening condition.

Yes, you are right about the pain - excruciating! I am so afraid to have another attack that I have eliminated about 75% of the food from my diet that could possibly trigger another attack. No butter, cheese, caffeine, red meat, chocolate...etc.

Glad you made the phone call and have an apt much sooner. :goodvibes

So many patients don't realize they have options. Ask questions if you are not satisfied. We are in NS, but had a referral from Ottawa, that young man was going to have an extensive wait, but came here and within a couple of weeks was back home, of course he had family in this area to stay with.

Wow I'm glad you called around and got something sooner. Did you try Strathroy? That would be closer for you than Stratford I think? I've had a few surgeries there and the care there is excellent!
