Has any one used a sedative on their child for the flight?

I normally find that a couple of cans of beer puts me to sleep so why not try that on your kids.
It might not have the same impact as the various medications but it is surely as irresponsible.

I do wonder whose benefit this is for, is it really gonna benefit the child or is it so the parent gets to have a nice stress-free flight to Orlando?

I agree I would never sedate my child, even though he'd probably have a better first night if he just went to sleep on the flight hopefully the travel sickness tablets he will have to take for our 5 hour drive to the airport will encourage him to rest then so he can enjoy his flight as much as me

I have to agree with the people who say they can't believe the question!!! I would never give my child medication unless she was ill. The thought of sedating a child to keep it quiet or make it sleep on a flight is, IMHO, morally wrong. I can't believe someone would do that! We work around the problem. My daughter usually has a nap on the plane even though she is past the daytime nap stage. Then a sleep like we do when we get there - up for dinner and sleep through the night. We are all tired for a couple of days when we get there but we work round it.

Also, what about DVT?

In natural sleep we tend to fidget, but these tablets can really knock you into a comatose-like state where you don't move at all.

And that's in additon to the moral implications and how it might endanger other people.
