We love Siesta Key! The beach is beautiful. White powdery sand, not crowded (unless you go July 4th weekend). We are leaving Wed. for the World and then a week at Siesta Key. We prefer Cresent Beach. There is also a section called Turtle Beach. Mostly condos and homes. We stay on the Stickney Point Rd. end of the island, because the beach is less crowded. There are accomadations in towards town, but we have never stayed there.
We have stayed at Palm Bay Club (pricey, but they will rent by the night) and Crystal Sands. When we stay for a week or more we use Siesta for Rent, a management company. Here is their info:

Do a search on Siesta Key Accomadations and you will find condos to rent by owner.
There are hotels, but they are not on the beach, which is not an option for us.
Siesta is very quiet. There are some restuarants and shopping in the little town, but beyond that you have to drive into Sarasota, which is beautiful.
On the Island there is a little restaurant called Granny's. Great breakfasts! We always splurge and go out for a late breakfast one day. You will eat enough to last you all day!
For dinners, we usually drive back over the bridge to the Amish restaurants. Lots of good food for little money! We go back over the bridge to do our shopping too. It is very quick and easy to hop off the island.
Enjoy your trip!
