I am trying to plan my next trip to Florida. This time we would like to stay at the beach a week and then go to WDW for only a couple of days. Anyhow, I heard Siesta Key has the nicest beaches but I know nothing about any accomadations there. Any advice would be appreciated.

You may want to check with the Chamber of Commerce: 941-955-8187
Their website is sarasotachamber.org
Their website seems more geared to members than tourists, but you may want to check it out.

You may also want to do an internet search on sarasota.

We love Siesta Key! The beach is beautiful. White powdery sand, not crowded (unless you go July 4th weekend). We are leaving Wed. for the World and then a week at Siesta Key. We prefer Cresent Beach. There is also a section called Turtle Beach. Mostly condos and homes. We stay on the Stickney Point Rd. end of the island, because the beach is less crowded. There are accomadations in towards town, but we have never stayed there.

We have stayed at Palm Bay Club (pricey, but they will rent by the night) and Crystal Sands. When we stay for a week or more we use Siesta for Rent, a management company. Here is their info:
Siesta 4-Rent
6604 Midnight Pass Rd.
Sarasota, FL, 34242
Phone: (941) 349-5500 Fax: (941) 349-5527
email: rentals@siesta4rent.com
internet: www.siesta4rent.com

Do a search on Siesta Key Accomadations and you will find condos to rent by owner.

There are hotels, but they are not on the beach, which is not an option for us.

Siesta is very quiet. There are some restuarants and shopping in the little town, but beyond that you have to drive into Sarasota, which is beautiful.

On the Island there is a little restaurant called Granny's. Great breakfasts! We always splurge and go out for a late breakfast one day. You will eat enough to last you all day!
For dinners, we usually drive back over the bridge to the Amish restaurants. Lots of good food for little money! We go back over the bridge to do our shopping too. It is very quick and easy to hop off the island.

Enjoy your trip!

NellBell, thanks for the info. We would like to stay beachfront also. We may stay for a full week, which condo did you stay at? I would want it to have a pool and be on the beach or only a few steps away. Thanks.

Yes with nobs on, we absolutley love it, and have been there loads, for small children and younger teens, Venice beach is nice too, as there are loads of shells and sharks teeth to collect.
We do not normally stay beach side but go inland to a condo about 15 min's drive away.

Momof2boyz2girlz,
We have stayed at Palm Bay Club and Crystal Sands. It is not cheap compared to other beach towns, but it is a very nice area. Your best option would be to rent from an owner or to use Siesta for Rent.

There are many condos along the beach with pools right on the beach. Palm Bay Club does not have their pool right on the beach, but it is a very nice pool! Bigger than most. They provide chairs on the beach and have a shaded hut on the beach. They also have a pool on the waterway. We love to swin there on Sundays and watch the locals take their yachts out. It is quite a parade! Palm Bay will rent by the night. We rented direct from them. I have seen condos for rent by owner on the net. Their availability never worked for us.

Crystal Sands has a pool on the beach, but it is not that big. They provide chairs on the beach, but do not need a shade hut as their building gives you shade for a large part of the day at the pool. We like the condo we rent here 1205. Their policy is 2 week minimum, but Siesta for Rent said the owner would work with us and rent it for one week. This condo has a great view of the beach and has beds for all six of us. (I too am a mom of 4, 3 boyz & 1 girl).
We used Siesta for Rent for this. If you talk to Crystal Sands, they WILL NOT rent for one week.

Feel free to email me if you have any more questions, I am happy to help!
