hi, we have just booked today to stay at the poly with virgin holidays, we have booked a garden view room and we were wondering if anyone else has stayed there with virgin, if so where was your room located and is it possible to request a certain building, any advice greatly appreciated as this is our first stay on disney property, thanks susie2

We did back in 1997. I can't remember the name of the building we were allocated, but looking at the resort from the lagoon, it was on the extreme right and our room was the opposite side from the lagoon.

We found the check-in cast members very unhelpful about any room request, even though we were celebrating our 20th anniversary. Virgin wouldn't make any requests either....but things may be different now.

We've stayed there a couple of times and have booked thro' Virgin Holidays both times - most recently August 2006. I've never had any problems requesting a building - I suggest you fax them directly about 6 weeks before you go on 001 407 824 3174 with your building request and include the details of your VH booking. I'm sure they'll do their best to help you out. :thumbsup2

When are you going? The Poly is an absolutely beautiful resort - the upgraded rooms are fantastic. The beach area is gorgeous (great for watching the Wishes fireworks over the Magic Kingdom) and the location is brilliant - can you tell I love it there?!

I'm sure you won't be disappointed... :cool1:

thanks for your replys, we are going 2nd october this year for nine nights, this is our first stay in a disney hotel, so we are really looking forward to it, thanks again susie2

We're booked into the Poly with Virgin at the end of July:cheer2: We were considering upgrading to concierge, but that was going to stretch our already straining budget a bit to far - besides, Virgin told us they "didn't have a contract with Disney" to do that (nor do they have a "contract" to offer Disney's Magical Express). Great tip about faxing the hotel though - any suggestions for which House to request, I understand that some have a view of the resort carpark:confused3 .

P.S. love this board, some great tips and advice.

We stayed in a Tokelau 2nd floor Garden View back in 2002 and loved it. We could even just about see the MK and the fireworks... :thumbsup2

We stayed concierge at the Poly last summer (which incidentally I was able to upgrade to via Virgin Holidays) and it was awesome but very expensive. In fact it was the cost of that vacation that convinced us to buy DVC points - with the current exchange rate we've been able to buy a whole load of points for the cost of last years hols! I don't think we'll ever do it again for the full two weeks but it'd be nice as a treat every now and again... :cloud9:
