We will be at Universal on Wed. 12/18. We are only planning to go to IOA/Harry Potter World. We would prefer not to stay 8 hours in the park and would love to be there at dusk. Will it be MUCH more crowded in the evening there? Anyone have any predictions about how long the line will be for Forbidden Journey that evening?

Seeing that you're going relatively close to the holidays, I'd suggest getting to the park before it opens, that way when the gates open you can go straight there before things get too crowded. I've found that lines tend to be under half hour-45 minutes in the early parts of the day, but end up quite long by the time it's 11AM. So if you want to get on anything in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, do so in the early hours of the day.

Yeah, I think you should get there as early as you can. The gate won't gather too many people in the early morning. Good luck!

I would do it first thing in the am.Forbidden journey can and does go down for technical issues and it would be a shame to save it for later in the day and miss it

like rmulieri, don't wait until the evening for the first time to go on FJ.

i have been on FJ numerous times.
and i always have another trip lined up before i leave the present trip.

past trip i thought i would do FJ once in the evening as i was leaving the next day.

was in line and the ride shut down that night.
it didn't go back up.

if this was the first time i was going to experience it, i would have been heart broken.......

i say go in the morning.
