Universal's Harry Potter theme park, set to open in late 2009 or early 2010, will focus heavily on holiday-themed events, particularly at Halloween and Christmas time, according to Jim Hill Media. It is hoped that this "Holidays at Hogwarts" idea will rival Disney World's current dominance during the holiday season.

Promotion for the park is due to begin as early as next year, with television commercials featuring clips from all five of the Potter movies to date.

A news station in Orlando recently filed a report concerning the upcoming Potter World theme park, which clues us in on what may be coming. "Industry insiders" have told Local 6 that the centerpiece attraction in the upcoming Harry Potter theme park will be a "ride in Ron's Flying Car."

Additionally, Universal hints "it may need to retheme the Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn roller coasters to become part of Harry Potter's world."

Thanks for the update, although ithe article touches upon one of my fears. I had hoped Dueling Dragons would remain in tact with only some minor tweaks to the castle to blend in better with the Potter theme. It's not my favorite ride at IoA, but it is my favorite themed ride if that makes sense...I just love walking up to and then through the castle :)

so the article reinforces the same things we knew before

Basically. Jim Hill (jimhillmedia.com) had a little more up yesterday about the "Holidays at Hogwarts" idea. What I found more interesting was his discussion of plans to possibly do a more child-friendly Halloween event centered around "Harry Potter Land." Which would mean HHN staying at the Studios (and only the Studios) for the foreseeable future.

from what I read of the article. it said parents would be scared next door AT USF while the kiddies are T or T at potter land..........:confused3

So is the era of the park that is fantasy themed (I believe it is called “The lost continent” of something like that) going to be totally gone now and replaces with Harry Potter?

for the most part, you are correct, only a few things will stay untouched (Mythos and Poseidon's fury apparently)
