Harry Potter strategies?

I have. I was there right after it opened. 2 hour waits to get into the section, an hour wait for Honeydukes, 120 minute waits for FJ, people up your butt like a giant wedgie. Yep, I've been there, done that. I still loved it. Of course, Im a Potter nerd, I used to wait in 6 hour lines for a midnight book release, even with a pre-order done 8 months in advance.

Crowds and lines are par for the course in this fandom sadly. I honestly think if you put a bunch of seasoned hard core Potter fans up against a Black Friday crowd at Walmart with a $5 iPod sale, the Potter nerds would be the ones who come out unscathed and with iPod in hand first. :lmao: 5-7 day camp-outs for front barricade positition at movie premiers are common occurances.

Not that Im disputing how insane it was for you, I've read about the crowds the week you were there, and insane is correct. I'm just saying, that for some, insane can be handled. But really, I don't think the OP will experience that considering when they are going so it should be ok for them.

The amount of people packed into that area was probably violating some kind of fire regulations. I couldn't tell you how long the ride lines were because we couldn't get close enough to see. I figured it would be busy, but it was beyond manageable. There are 100's of reviews on Tripadvisor from people who were there at this time saying the same thing. Universal needs to come up with some way to manage this. For us WWoHP had no bearing on our trip, we would have been going if they never built WWoHP.

On the positive side for those WWoHP fans from what we could see the place looked pretty cool. The Attention to detail was evident even from a distance. If you can make it there on a day when it isn't like this I'm sure you will have a blast. Unfortunately for us this is the only time of the year a major vacation like this works.

I have a question that I am wondering about. For the second year in a row I bought the 1 Day/2 Park with transfers ticket from DU. I waited along with everyone not staying on site & went in when the gates opened. However a TM told me that my ticket granted me access in one hour early & had I known that, I would've taken full advantage. Is this the truth? Can you get in an hour early with the 1 day/2 park pass that Dreams is selling? If it is true, it would surely help us as she wants to spend as much time as possible at WWOHP(& personally I wanna drink some more Butterbeer) More information either good or bad would be appreciated. TIA!
I highly doubt what you were told is true. Only onsite guests and guests who purchased the package at Universal partner hotels can get in an hour early. I can't believe just purchasing this ticket would allow early entry. Have you called Dreams to check?

There were some tour groups that had the same early entry privilage as the on-site guests. It's possible that Dreams has some sort of deal worked out, but I don't know for sure.

Haven't called Dreams yet, I was seeing if anyone on the boards could help me before I make the call.

Yeah but I thought those groups booked hotel, air, tickets, etc. with the groups. I know Virgin had some groups last summer but again...I can't imagine just buying a park ticket w/Mears transfers is going to get you into the park early and I haven't seen it mentioned on the boards yet.

Yeah, it wouldn't be very exclusive if that were the case.

Interesting discussions, love to read the discussions, its very live. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy reading.

Is it true that if it is really busy they will give you a time to come back to the entire Wizarding World- meaning you can't even enter the gates to get in??

How does that work?

Yes, they just give you a time to come back like an express pass at Disney. You come back at that time and are let into the area. You still have to line up at the attractions inside the area though.
