Harry potter ride not for large riders

As for the weight issue, I have some larger friends and unfortunately we've had some experiences were someone wasn't able to fit on the ride and had to be removed. Yes, its an embarrassing situation but instead we took that as motivation to get down to a riding weight. (We called it the HOLLYWOOD GET RIPPED RIDE DIET :rotfl:)

once at ripsaw falls a woman tried to get in-she got in-they said no way she's too big-and unfortunately when she tried to get out she got stuck-it took about 15 minutes to get her out. some of the people in line were so rude i felt really bad for her especially because she was there with her young son but after she got out she told her son will be back next year and i promise i will be able to ride this---hope she was able to keep that promise

Why do people have to pick on others for their weight?:sad2: The poster stated that the restraint system won't allow larger riders to ride. He also expressed disappointment over this. What is so wrong with that? I can only presume that many on these boards have children of their own. I would hope that you aren't teaching your children to pick on and make fun of people who have extra weight on them.

Are height and weight restrictions listed somewhere? I wouldn't listen to rumors and get upset just yet. Wait and see, and if you are really concerned, maybe you can try and do something about those extra pounds... I think it might be worth it! Besides, it does seem like Universal would want to make an iconic ride like this a ride for all.

Nobody is doing that. The knee jerk self righteousness on here sometimes is amazing.

Posts #5 and #7 are doing EXACTLY that. If you read a post about larger sized people and your first reaction is to type a negative/rude response- GO elsewhere. The post was created to let others know what to expect being larger sized for this ride and to express some disappointment. The poster has every right to write such a post without getting backlash from others telling him to lose weight. If you cannot be sensitive to this issue-close the post and go to another one. There is no need for rudeness.

Hey folks, some good news. ScottInNY over at OrlandoUnited has just posted that larger seats are in the works and they expect them to be ready by December. I think you can take this one to the bank. I hope I don't need one but as my mother once said, you never know what you're going to do in this life. You really don't. Your thyroid could go kaflooey tomorrow or you could find yourself pregnant with triplets . . . anyway, by the end of the year, the Wizarding World will be happily open to anyone over 48 inches.

Thank you for your informative post! :)

That is exactly why I will not go to Universal. That and they don't have any good rides that are fun. Going upside down and not having your feet on the ground is not fun, it is torture.
that is your opinion and not the opinion of everyone. I for one love having my feet not touch the ground & going upside down.. the faster the better :goodvibes

Silly question, but why are those who don't like Universal on this sub board anyway..:confused3 If you don't like something, why read about it. Leave it be and go on your magical way... no offence to anyone in particular but why some here to complain about it.

So is lecturing people on a message board going to do anything? I don't understand how you envision that getting positive results. The OP's message was very grumpy and nasty. That's why he/she got the type of responses that he/she did, not because everyone hates and has no tolerance for overweight people.

This thread is turning into something you would see on the CB..This is not the normal posting here.Thats why the regulars here get mad.Post #5 and #7 will get rude remarks here.

And very well put Lou!!:thumbsup2

I fail to see what was rude about expressing disatisfaction on a ride restraint system that is not accessible to a large percentage of the population and young children who love Harry Potter....

People responded rudely because society says it is OK to mock people with weight issues because "its their fault". Overweight individuals are the only segment of society people feel ok about openly mocking or chastising.. People would never mock ones race or religion on these boards but it seems ok say whatever you want to a person of size. Everyone does not know my situation...why i have a large upper body...etc its none of your business. Im just disappointed others so quickly will pass judgement ...ok off my soap box.....i was just disappointed i couldnt take my 4 year old daughter on the Harry Potter Ride, looks like neither of us will fit.

hopefully, this will not be a continuing thing.

newbies are very welcome to coming to the darkside to learn about the parks and obtain information.

like double d stated, we don't have controversy threads at the darkside that tend to stir up trouble.

I think people responded as they did because your original post feels a bit anti-Universal and could easily be interpreted as inflammatory. Venting about things that irritate you is fine, right. . . . even though it might be a bit premature for this particular issue. Perhaps if the whole I'm cancelling my Universal trip and going to Disney cuz they are waaaay better part had simply been left off, the responses may well have had a different tone. . . . just sayin. On the other hand, if you were interested in starting an angry debate here on this board. . . mission accomplished.

This is a Universal forum with lots of members (even some with weight issues) who really enjoy the place. Do you really expect them to be all lovey-dovey to you when you come in and say things like:

Just goes to show a company that as a priority on family experiences like Disney will always outclass upstarts like Universal.

Personally I hope you and your issues (you say weight, I'm thinking attitude) have a wonderful time on your WDW vacation. Me, I'll stick with the upstarts.

Although I'm not overweight, I still would like a hover chair and a robot to wipe my butt.

Especially when you have no idea if there even is a reason to get pissy in the first place.
