Clearly my experience was unusual, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in:
The early part of the Dragon queue is easy to see if you're not riding (I went through up until the car so that I could take pictures-- it was wide enough that people just went around me and then I turned around and left).
I'd ridden a couple of times, but we were staying in the Hard Rock so I used the Express line. Then, I found out that there was more to see in the regular queue, so being to photo addict I am, I had to go see it. I wasn't planning on riding, though, I would be too scared about my camera.
Anyway, I got the pictures I wanted, and when it was time for me to leave, I was instructed out an exit door. Long story short, I ended up in a deserted back area (one that park visitors were clearly not supposed to see) filled with old pipes and pieces of metal and such.
Long story short, I got back into the queue and ended up having to go backwards through a very unforgiving tourist group who didn't understand that I just wanted to escape, not steal their place in line.
At the time, I was horrified and I ended up with quite a few bumps and bruises

... at least I got a good story out of it
Either way, enjoy your trip-- WWOHP is amazing!
