Harry Potter question UPDATED in post #35 with TRIP REPORT!!

Great photos Kristilew. Brings back some great memories. We think this is a must see for any Harry Potter fan. On an HP note, we were in New York a couple of months ago and went to see a play called "It's only a play". We were fortunate enough to meet the cast after the play (Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, ...). DS was totally unimpressed until he met Ruppert Grint. He was as nice as can be. He spent 5-10 minutes sitting down and talking with DS, signed a playbill, took a bunch of photos, and seemed so genuinely nice. DS was walking on cloud 9 the entire weekend. Nice to know that as big as HP was in turning the actors into stars, they would still make time and make a 12 year olds day/week/year.

I love this story! :) So far, all the stories I've heard about the kids from these movies has been good stuff!

Sounds like an awesome time! Did you get any butterbeer in the outdoor area? So yummy!

We got hot chocolate - it was really cold out! But we've tried the Butterbeer at Universal so we didn't feel like we were missing out.

Wonderful! The Christmas touches look really, really great! And they didn't have the Buckbeak exhibit when I was there. That looks neat, too! :)

I just wanted to mention that the reason they weren't strict about the entry times was probably because you were there in the off-season. When I went in August, they were VERY strict about the times. They checked times getting in the line, and when you went into the pre-area with the posters. I just don't want folks to think it's always like what you experienced. :)

I don't think the chess pieces were out front when I went. That looks way cool!

Thanks for reporting back!

Good to know about the entry times. While the day was sold out, they probably allow for more tickets sold in peak times. I wouldn't want anyone to plan based on my experience and then have issues getting in!

The Buckbeak thing was really neat. On the video screen, an actor and a tech controller were talking about how the controls worked, and then when they moved the control arm in the video, Buckbeak moved accordingly.

What a great story! 5-10 minutes is an incredibly long time to make nice conversation with a fan. Your son must have been in heaven! What a great guy.

ETA: You can post videos just like you post photos. Upload them to photobucket, get the link, and put it in the popup for the photo link. You get a Thumbnail that, when clicked, takes the person to your video on photobucket. I've done it many times. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd *love* to see your daughter's video!

Thanks! Let's see if this works:

We have to do this!! MY HP adventure didn't happen on a tour. My DD and I had selected a B&B in Scotland to stay at in Glencoe. She was driving down this small country road and all of a sudden I started yelling. Maria....Maria....there's Hadrid's Hut!! Turns out the B&B was directly across the little country road from the filming location for Prisoner of Azkaban! The scenery here has been used in all the Harry's since. Too much rain for them to film while we were there but we talked to a driver and some crew for a lengthy time. Many crew members stayed at the B&B (actually an inn) too.

Adventure by Scotland, indeed!!

Cool! The hut is now part of the studio tour. We learned that they took it around to several filming locations over the years. Also about the tricks they used to make Hagrid appear bigger and the kids smaller!

Hey, I hope you don't mind, I compared your link to one of mine that works, and I noticed that the link I had had a 'th_' in front of the picture name. So I edited your link. I'm going to have to figure what I did differently than what I told you. But in the meantime, your link works now!

And it's adorable!! :) :thumbsup2

Thanks! I don't mind at all - what's odd is that the way I did it worked on my computer. I even logged off Disboards & photobucket and tried it to be sure.

But I noticed it did not work from my iphone app. Actually still not working from the app. Instead it says connection error. Who knows how all this stuff works (or doesn't?)

Anyway, glad you liked it!

The bridge was up on the mountain above the hut in Glencoe as well as the standing stones where Hermoine punches Malfoy. We have also been to Alnwick Castle where the flying lessons were filmed as well as Gloucester Cathedral used in multiple movies but most recognizable from Chamber of Secrets. Almost forgot the rail Viaduct in the Highlands and Christchurch in Oxford where the stairs to the Great Hall were filmed and where the hall itself was the inspiration for the Great Hall built at the studio.

We are HP junkies needless to say! Now it is time to get back to London and do what you did!

If you are HP junkies, you will love the Studio Tour! I spent 5 1/2 hours there, and loved it!
