The U.S. release date for the second Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," was November 15, 2002. I believe you are mistaken about it having been shown on a May 2002 cruise -- six months before its U.S. release.Originally posted by aprilgail2
I saw Harry Poter on the May 2002 cruise...not sure when the second Harry Potter movie came out but that is when it was on the cruise.

I was on the Wonder in June of 2003 and it was "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". It was probably the Sorcerer's Stone" as pointed out by Horace that was being shown in 2002. - Mike

yodasdabomb - You actually asnwered my question with the following "this movie is a lot darker than the other two". Seems like he will have to wait for another 6 months ( I told him he could see it when he was 7 if it was too scary). He just saw Shrek2 anyway so he can wait a little while for this one (But can I wait since I also seem to like these movies - LOL). Thanks again - Mike

Haha as much as I didn't like some of the editing decision in the movie... I am DYING to go back and see it again!! My mom and I, who have both seen it, are taking my Dad next week. You want to talk about a brave woman! My mom took 11 of her students ( who were trying to earn the trip throughout the school year) to see it. She called me right after and told me that here students (4th graders) were so enthralled they didn't budge throughout the entire movie. Anyway back to my point. I want to see it again and I am also reading the book again!, and I got the soundtrack (which is great too). So if you have older children definitely go see it. I however am a big advocate of reading books before seeing the movie version, so maybe if you have a child who hasn't read it, make them a deal... if they read it first then they can see it
. Great way to kick of the summer reading! (Can you tell I am someone with a teaching credential??? haha)
