Harry Potter! Harry Potter ! Harry Potter!

I went to see Chamber of Secrets on opening night and I really enjoyed it. Before the movie, my friend came over and we had Harry Potter themed food and watched Sorceror's Stone on my VCR. Then we went off to enjoy the chaos of opening night at the Pleasure Island AMC. I just love that chaos! We always see bunches of other Disney people and it is like one big social event. We bought our tickets a day in advance, which is good, because all the shows were sold out by the time we arrived.

Anyway, my favorite new character in this movie is Moaning Myrtle. She was so perfect! Lucius Malfoy was also very well cast. Of course, I also appreciated the scene with the train. I want to drive the Hogwarts Express! We did not stay for the credits, but now I have a good excuse to go see it again. Yay!

Took the boys to see it last night and we LOVED it!!!!! Loved Moaning Myrtle, too funny, LOLLL.

Snoops, we are big Ron Weasley fans here, too. I don't know where they found the young man that plays him, but he couldn't be more perfect!!!

and yes, Lucius is very handsome, LOLLLLL. ;)

We stayed for the credits.

We loved it too. If anyone wants to PM me about the end of the credits, I would really appreciate it. Mr. Malfoy had marvelous hair, I couldn't take my eyes off it. Now Ron, can I just bring him home and keep him??????? I just love that kid, he is fabulous!!!!!!!!

DS and his fiancee saw it yesterday and he said it was so good. In his opinion he liked it much better than the first one.

Saw it last night and loved it! I thought it was every bit as good as the first. I loved the Weasley house! Too cool :teeth:

Saw Harry Potter yesterday afternoon and it was awesome!! I've never my 2 DS's and their 3 friends sit so still for so long. The Weasly house was great - much better than I imagined from reading the books. Wish they'd shown it more. Can't wait for the next one!!

We saw Harry on Saturday, and thought it was great!

Yes, it did lack a bit in character development, but there is so MUCH in the book, it would be impossible to include everything!

The Quidditch match was MUCH better that the first one. This time, the filmmakers used all the technology and expertise at LucasFilms ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) Ranch to film that sequence. Knowing that, did anyone else think that the visuals when Harry and Draco fly under the bleachers resembled the X-wing fighters as they flew into the Death Star in Star Wars?

Lucius Malfoy was played by Jason Issacs, who also played the sadistic British colonel who terrorized Mel Gibson's family in "The Patriot". He's getting quite good at playing baddies!

Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) did almost steal the show again. His rubber-faced expressions are wonderful to watch!

Although Dobby was computer generated, DH thought he looked just like Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones  !

And did anyone else catch the wonderful "British" humor in this movie! Hint: the joke on Lockhart at the end of the credits is an example . . .

And I think Daniel Radcliffe is going to be the next heartthrob for the 13 and under set -- our 11 year old gushes, "He's soooo cute!!"

SSB saw it last night, and LOVED it..... enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first one... which I thought was only "so so". This was a four star dealee in SSB's book!

I thought that the near three hours flew by!

:) :) :)

I agreed with a couple above posters that I didn't like it quite as much as the first. I still liked it, don't get me wrong.

I too thought it lacked a little bit of the "magic". I assume it's because they knew we were familiar with it from the last one.

It could be just because when I saw the first one I hadn't read the book yet and now I have read all of them before seeing this movie.

Everyone in our theater that stayed past the credits said, "that's what we waited for?" :D Don't get too excited folks.

My DH and I sat analyzing when the movie was done about what parts they did and didn't cover. I know they can't show everything, but it's something you always do if you've read a book that's been made in to a movie.

I liked this film better than the first. The special effects were stronger and the film moved faster. It seemed that they left less out this time around compared to the first book.

We did not stay for the credits but there is another thread on the CB where the secret is disclosed. I view this as a good reason to go back and see the movie again.

52 yr old DM and 35 yr old me after seeing him now call him...
Lucious Lucius Malfoy!!!!
(Wish I knew how to post a pic here, he is *something*...)

Hi Terri! Lucious is just something else...:) Noticed that there are some pictures of him on another thread. ;) ;) ;)

Saw the movie last night and just loved it! I went with a friend who knew very little about "Harry Potter" but was enthralled by the movie. So imaginative, wow. I loved the greenhouse scene! {and everything else} :D

I was planning on taking my 8 year old DD this weekend, but three different people told me they thought it was much scarier than the first. Even though she's read the books, she still got a little scared at the first movie and enjoyed it much more at home on DVD where it was not so dark. Should I rethink taking her to the theatre and seeing it and waiting until it comes out on DVD? Any opinions would be appreciated. (And, of course, I'm dying to see it, and hope I don't have to wait!)

Suzannen,
I had the same concerns as you.....my DD is also 8 and I thought the second book was darker than all the others. Now that we've seen the new movie I actually thought the first one was scarier.
The parts of the book that had me worried were in the chamber of secrets, with the basilisk, and what I imagined was not as bad as the actual movie.
IMHO, I think the scenes with Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest and at the end of the first movie were creepier.

I saw Chamber of Secrets a few days ago, and definitly agree it was better than the first. I have new love for Lucious Malfoy, but of course not as much as I love Snape!! :)

Can't wait for Prisoner of Azkaban, especially if they cast Ewan McGregor as Lupin!

Paras4ri,
Thanks for your input. After much discussion we decided to go to the theater to see it with the agreement that if she got too scared, she would squeeze my hand 3 times and we would go to the lobby for popcorn. She made it through fine, only ducking under her coat briefly twice. Like you, we were both much more frightened by the forest scene with Valdemort in the first one! Thanks for the advice!

I have new love for Lucious Malfoy, but of course not as much as I love Snape!!

I thought I was the only one who loves Snape. Something very mysterious about him that makes him so sexy, imo! :smooth:
