Harry Potter - Goblet of Fire

I hope they show more Ron/Hermione bickering - it is that "I like you" bickering - like when a boy hits you (not like beat up, either), you know he likes you? The love tension is there - can't wait to see it play out in the film, though.

That is what I want too. It was shown at the end of the second film, all over Ron's face when Hermione is returned to normal. I have always said "when will these two just admit they are in love".

Of course they can eliminate Rita. She would just be introduced as an untrustworthy reporter who writes rubbish nobody believes in OoTP. Or they could make her a reporter for the Quibbler, which is a magazine no one believes in anyway.

And Hermione can have a few lines about treating house-elves better without having a whole elaborate SPEW thing.

Agreed. Mermaid, as you said in an earlier post about the POA film (on another thread), this would make it more cinematic . We have to remember that we're talking about two completely different media here, book and film...very different animals.

I may be in the minority here but I truly felt that GOF really didn't get going until the whole Winky/Crouch thing on the night after the Quidditch World Cup. They will be able to cinematically condense most of the earlier content into a few scenes. JMHO.

Well since they plan to have the quidditch world cup in the movie I sure hope they show the part where Harry and crew bump into Oliver Wood...just because the boy they had play him in the first 2 movies is well GORGEOUS. I'm really upset that they left the quidditch stuff out of POA, as that is so important to these books. Not to mention the fact that I tend to just watch the quidditch scenes when I'm really bored, just so I can see Sean Biggerstaff (obsessed, maybe...but he's so cute!). I'm nearly positive we won't see him again but I can hope right.
I also feel that both S.P.E.W, and Rita play a very important role in the books, but in the interest of profit, they will probably be cut. I wish the movie would be made into 2, because you can't do the book any justice if you pack all of it into a 2-3 hour movie.

I LOVE watching the quidditch scenes!!! I wish they wouldn't take them out!! They are great...really get my adrenaline going, as I have a large imagination and pretend I'm there!!:o :teeth:

I also don't see how they could have a good movie with all of the important "stuff" and it only be a couple of hours, 3 at the most....but they have already decided that they are having ONE movie, less quidditch, and I'm pretty sure that they are starting at the QWC. :( I wish they would make two movies, and include a LOT more of the important things....but I'm not the director, writer, etc.

I wish I was though...not only for those reasons, but being around Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe!!!! But I have to say, I would chose Rupert over Daniel!!!:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

thanks theSurlyMermaid!! I have ALWAYS thought he was hot, and I LOVE and I mean LOVE his accent!!!:teeth: ::yes:: ::yes::

I don't see how they can rush through GoF better than the 3rd one (too much to jam in already, isn't it). It really should be 2 movies.

I think they'll skip the whole World Cup, and just reduced it to a 2 min game thing. I am hoping they won't skip the Ron / Hermonine bickering. Even in the book it's fun. Really look forward to the Yule Ball, and already wondering what everyone's going to wear. But the Cho Cheung plot should be reduced (the book didn't really explain much other than that Harry is secretly in love with her).

I'd like to see more of the teacher / students relationship. I want to see more Malfoy and less Hadgrid. I want them to NOT skip over HP & Ron's fight.

To tell you the truth, I'm already looking forward to the re-make of Harry Potter in 20 years. Just so much more interesting material in the plot. :)

I think it would be much better to condense GOF than cut it into two movies. If they keep making them at the current pace, 1 every 1.5 years, the actors might be a little too old to be credible by the time they get to film 7. The problem will be worse if they start making each book into two films.

They could do it, like they did the Lord of the Rings, and just film it all at once, so the kids don't age, and split it into more than one film. I wish, but I know it won't happen. Doesn't matter, I'll be dying to see it no matter what they do to it.

I really hated that they left out the importance of the quidditch cup and winning and that , that was the first time Harry really produced the stag. On another note, my son lives for the quidditch scenes, he has a nimbus 2000 that makes a swoosh sound and a snitch he chases around the living room while watching it pretending to be Harry. I know he's just itching for a new game to make believe in.

I also didn’t like the way that they minimized DD as Harry’s mentor. I hope they bring some strength back to it in the next one. I liked how they had their pseudo father son wrap up in the end. I noticed they took DD lines and split them between lupin and Remus and it sorta made me feel like they cheated DD. He's so important to Harry and I know they had to transition the "new guy" but still it was harmful to the story I think. I also don't like the Hippie "groovy" attitude of DD , I hope they make him a lil more serious in the next one.

I too would like to see the focus on the world cup, the tasks and the grave yard.........I will enjoy seeing the ball like I do christmas but I don't think they need to spend a lot of time on it.

I think they can do little visual clues and save some time on the dialogue if they are clever about it.

Well, I've been reading about how they are starting the film at the Quidditch World Cup, no Privet Drive scenes.
I hope that's not true, especially since the importance of why Harry has to return to the Dursley's each Summer is explained in OOP (unless that will be eliminated from the 5th movie).

The trouble with this is according to the law in Britain, the kids can only be on set a certain number of hours per day until they reach a certain age (can't recall if it's 16 or 18). LoTR had a scheduled 14 month shoot for all three movies, a schedule that ended up going much beyond that. A ordinary movie has a shooting schedule of 3 months. Your average Harry Potter movie is filming for 9 months and in postproduction for longer.

If you want to go ahead and film two films at once, you may as well nearly double that time. It is not feasible.

Thanks, Figment! That is a cool website, too. I'm going to have to check it out. The picture of "Cedric" is pretty small, but he looks like he could be cute. The profile of the nose looks like Krum to me! Wonder who they'll cast as Krum?!

I hope they touch briefly on Hagred and Madame's love interest. Do you think they'll reveal that he's half giant and get into all of that? The books go into more detail in OoP...how he's brought his brother to the forest...etc.

OMG, I thought the same exact thing about the guy playing Cedric, I think he looks like he would make a very good actor for Krum!!

Figment! That website is bad, bad, bad, I tell you! Full of dark magic ;) It trapped me nearly half the day!!! Why do I get so Harry fixated  I need a time-turner to help me out of my wasted day!

They've cast a Bulgarian teenager named Stanislav Yanevski. I couldn't find a picture.

Victor Krum Cast
