I'm interested too, and if you have been, does it appear to be wheelchair accessible?

i am sure if you call them they will tell you if they are handicap accessible. I work with people with special needs and have been finding that things are more accessible these days -- i know at the titanic exhibit the displays are lower so if you are in a wheel chair you were able to see them as well.

We took our kids (1-4-8) this last weekend. My sons love Harry Potter. It was worth the trip. The exibit is by no means large it took approx 2 hours to get through but it was well done. The kids were intrigued by seeing the real items on display. Destination Coupons has a decent discount. You can just web search it. Also I would reccomend prepaying for parking on the discovery museum web page. It is $25.00 for 10 hours and is right down the street from the museum. When we left I noticed my charge would have been $42.00 if I had not prepaid. Hope this helps.

We saw the HP exhibit in Times Square last week (7/30/11). It was $26 and annoyed me right away as the entrance line goes through the "pose here with your family" spot. HATE having to have a photo taken first!

This is not a roam-around museum. They let you into the exhibit in large groups, and you basically follow everyone from exhibit to exhibit, staying more or less in line. The beginning is very crowded, frustrating, and pushy, but it gets better as you go into the exhibit- the crowds thin out and you actually have a chance to see the items on display. There are LOTS of costumes from the movies, as well as other items like wands, lists, eggs, beds, snitch, time turner, etc., all identified by name and episode. There are displays from herbology, the potions dungeon, etc.

Normally I wouldn't have done this kind of thing in NYC, but admission was included on the NYPasses that two of our group had purchased (one teen and I). I guess it was a good exhibit. I started out annoyed, and the crowds at the beginning didn't make that any better. The three teens I was with were enchanted by the whole thing. I wish I'd skipped it and given my pass to my daughter to use, to save the $26 admission fee. There are discount cards available around town (found them at the NBC studio tour ticket counter) but they are not valid on weekends. I am a pretty avid Potter fan, but I wouldn't do this tour again (although I think my teen might).

We did it as part of the city pass as well. I would have been upset if I paid full price. It is small, imo. It is mostly reading the signs that explain what you are looking at. My ds10 wasn't interested in "reading" and just looked at everything. We were in and out in a half an hour.

I saw it in Boston when it was at the Museum of Science. I'm a HP nut, and I enjoyed it, but it was so busy. Like a PP said, they let you in in timed groups. We went over a vacation and it was mobbed. The exhibit was mobbed, the Museum of Science was mobbed. Ugh.

DH and I went a few weeks ago and loved it. It took about 1 hour to go through. They have a lot of costumes, props, etc. I loved the Death Eaters scene/area. I also loved the Pompeii exhibit and we have been to Pompeii. That one is $15 right now and well worth it.

I took my 14 yo daughter back in April and purchased the tickets ahead of time at Costco. If you do this, you will need to go to the ticket counter and get an entrance ticket with a time to enter.
Or, you can buy the ticket on line from exhibit itself and include an entry time.
Use the followig web site to shop for parking rates:

http://nyc.bestparking.com/index.php#1

All you need to do is put in an address or neighborhood to compare lots of rates. The last time I went into the city, it cost me $12 for the day!

I didn't think it was worth it for me, but my HP crazy daughter loved it! That was worth it for me!

We're going tomorrow so I'll let you know. We got $25 tickets at Costco for DH and me which will include the audio tour (usually another $7). We are just getting DS' ticket when we get there tomorrow.

We're also driving in and parking on West 49th Street - if we can get in by 10 a.m. it will be under $12 for 12 hours of parking! (We also plan to go to the NY Public Library and Grand Central to see some of the architecture.) :goodvibes Check out www.centralparking.com whenever you need to drive in; they have the best deals I've found.

Just went with my sister in July - she came up to visit me in NY (where I work during the week) and is a HUGE HP fan so wanted to do this. If you purchase your tickets from their website and pay with an AMEX, you can add the audio tour to your cart for free (normally an extra $7). You can only do that once per order, so I had to order each of our tickets separately so we could each get an audio tour. That said, I didn't enjoy it and really didn't use my audio tour, but I haven't read the HP books nor I have seen all of the movies in order. My sister, however, LOVED it and couldn't stop talking about it. So I'd say your level of interest and enjoyment is definitely directly related to your interest and enjoyment of all other things HP.

I was able to go for the free teacher preview before it opened. I'm not a fan but I was with others who were and they enjoyed it and I thought it was cool. DD and her fiance are coming back here before our mother/ daughter trip in 2 weeks and they want to go to both HP and Pompeii so I'll be paying this time. There is a discount for HP but for both, the regular combo ticket is cheaper. A fan would enjoy seeing the actual props and costumes from the movie. The crowds were much better than the teacher preview for King Tut so we were able to move through at our own pace.

Amazing exhibit and a must-see for any Harry Potter fan. I didn't have any problems with crowds at all, but I went in the middle of the day on a Thursday a couple months ago. There were about 10 people in our group. How many are there these days?

Lots of awesome props that were very cool to see up close. I especially loved the beginning. Worth the price of admission, I thought.

Oh, we all had a GREAT time there! They did a nice job recreating parts of the sets; it wasn't just costumes in glass cases. In fact, there were a few places you could get in on the action (such as Hagrid's chair). I thought the audio tour was interesting but if it hadn't come "free" with our Costco passes we would have just shared one. There were some wonderful props, books, screens showing quick montages from the movies (lots of fun!) I wish they had had the Mirror of Erised there but ah well!

My 2.5 year old DD who does not scare easily was cowed by a few of the models. Otherwise we all thoroughly enjoyed it! If it were staying around I could even go again down the road, but (lucky for me) it's not. It did whet our appetite for our planned trip to US/IOA next year...

Naturally we exited through a gift shop...but I got out spending less than $20 so not bad.

We won't go to Pompeii any time soon as I've heard it's very intense and sad. Too much for DS (and maybe me too).

Oh, the crowds were not bad...we were able to take our time and walk through and even go back! (DS LOVED the Quidditch hoops...who knew quaffles were so heavy?) I almost missed seeing Luna and Xeno's wedding garb. Why wasn't the gift shop selling Hallows necklaces? :3dglasses
