While skimming some sites for some Harry Potter info (yes I know I'm a geek) I checked one of my favorite sties http://www.mugglenet.com and found this blurb

Harry Potter at Disney World in 2006
Disney is planning to build a Harry Potter attraction in 2006 at Epcot Center in Disney World. Details are scarce at this point, stay tuned. (And kudos to TLC for the tip.)

Which linked to this site....http://www.disneycorner.com/modules.php?name=Disney_Future&file=wdw

Anybody got any more info on this? I'm a Harry Potter nut I'm just not sure that Disney is willing to do this franchise the justice it deserves at this time. I'd hate to see something crappy.

I don't see how this rumor has any basis
Wasn't Harry Potter a WB movie? Disney isn't in the habit of making rides of other studio movies... And isn't WB associated with the Six Flags network of parks?

And to put it in EPCOT?????? Where? Maybe demolish Living Seas? I got it! The new Soaring attraction ----Soaring over Hogwarts. (sorry - sarcasm won out on this reply)

I don't know how ture the rumor is...but.

Star Tours, Indy Stunt Show, Muppet 3-D

Edit -Epcot is wildly out of place though.

Why not Epcot? Disney is desperate for pavilion sponsors, maybe they'll go for movie studios?

Seriously, if I understand it right, WB has very little to do with Six Flags. Six Flags is an independent entity who has permission to use the characters and in turn, WB sells items in the parks. I've been told that the connection runs no deeper than this.

As for the HP rumor, I wonder if this has all stemmed from the comment made by the Universal guy? Or if there is any substance to any of this?

Somebody on an internet site somewhere said "I heard they were putting something new in world showcase, I wish that they would put something in the UK pavillion there is nothing there."

And somebody said "I heard the guy from universal say that Disney has HP wrapped up, maybe they will put that in the UK!"

And somebody said "WOW! Harry Potter in Epcot! COol I love Harry Potter!"

And we have a rumor, and it gets posted on disney corner.

And now we have confirmation! So it's true: Harry Potter is coming to Epcot. Book your 2006 vacation now!

Hey,at least we got a bonifide rumor to kick around for awhile. Boards been a little slow lately.

Can't give much credence to this rumor if the others on this board haven't heard about it; however, (1) Six Flags isn't exactly set up to exploit the character well, and (2) I was surprised the last time I looked into this that the only HP theme park attraction appeared to be a walk-through (I believe of Diagon Alley) somewhere in Australia.

They did do attractions for Star Wars, the Indiana Jones movies, and the MGM movies, plus the Muppets.

A Harry Potter dark ride would make a nice addition to the UK pavilion, although a dark ride through British history would fit the World Showcase theme better.

I think if Disney does in fact have the rights to make an HP ride, they need to make it a stand-alone E ride. A properly done HP ride would basically overwhelm UK.

Epcot would seem like a really weird place for something of this scope....I mean, if you're going to do Harry Potter, you've gotta do it big. I don't think JK Rowling would allow something not done right (though she approved the movies...which are imo all right, but not spectacular...don't do justice to the storytelling).

Unless it would be a pavillion dedicated to creating special effects (technology)....but that would still seem more in place at the Studios.

I agree that the UK pavillion at WS would just be too small to hold something of this magnitude. Though I guess its the most logical fit at the moment. Still, it doesn't really have anything to do with the real UK, other than taking place in some fictionalized alternate reality of it....

Well, as usual, I'll believe it when I see it....would be great for Disney to get this if they are willing to do a decent job of it.

I find this hard to believe. Didn't Disney originally bypass the original Harry Potter screen play for the first movie. If so why would Disney open a attraction based on this. Warner Bros. as of now holds harry potter rights. Take a look at the back of your video. when was the last time you say Disney and warner Bros partner up for anything?

Warner Bros. characters appeared in Roger Rabbit.

I think it should go, if it goes anywhere, in the MGM studios.. it as about movies,, It is where Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, and the Muppets are...
It doesnt really fit in the UK at Epcot.

Disney Corner also has monorail expansion listed as a go, same phase I as HP. Not sure I'd put much credibility until the rumor appears in more places.

I think a dark ride (think Spiderman) would do well for HP. Although I think MGM would be a better fit Disney is looking to put and keep people in EPCOT.

As far as where to put it, isn't the old millenium village (now used for conventions) near UK? Think of the back of UK to the left.

The Millenium Village entrance was located between the UK and Canada pavilions, and it curves to the left behind the UK pavilion.

That was my memory, I guess there is enough space if Disney wants to put HP by by the UK.

Hi everyone, am a new member here, and, prior to this, have been lurking, reading all of your fantastic posts. *waves*

Am also a member of FAP, or Fiction Alley Park, which is a large message board similar to this one focused solely on Harry Potter and Harry Potter fan fiction.

Thanks to TLC's (The Leaky Cauldron, a Weblog site recognized and visited by JKR herself and run by the incomprable Melissa and Heidi) wonderful research, we at FAP can confirm that the Disney Imagineers are seriously looking into a HP attraction, as they have purchased the rights to a HP attraction. We also know that Universal Studios has purchased the rights to a LoTR (Lord of the Rings) attraction, which is why they did not persue a HP one, even though they are Warners Bros. affiliates.

Also, we're pretty sure that the ride will not be located in Epcot's UK pavilion, but in some area of Future World.

Here is the link to The Leaky Cauldron, where you can find some information on HP current events, including mention of the HP Disney Attraction, and HERE is a link directly to the place that TLC cites as the provider of this information/rumor.

Thanks for the links Meg. Fascinating info and I particularly hope that you're right about LOTR! My son is the official Harry Potter nut while I follow the Hobbit. ;)

The problem is that we don't really know how reliable Disney Corner is with this info. As for the attraction being built in Future World, that seems hard to believe but Future World is changing into something else so why not? :)
