I want to send my brother (in RI) and my sister (in FL) a Harry & David type basket. Neither one really need anything and they enjoy the little snacks.

Perhaps Harry & David will be my best choice, but are there any other places you can recommend that carry nice, but budget friendly, baskets?

Thanks!

both Costco.com and samsclub.com have great gift baskets of all kinds that seem to be a much better value. Ive sent a couple over the years from costco and they were great !!

Why not make your own and ship it? You know them best and what snacks they like. It would also be more cost effective.

BJs Wholesale makes great baskets. I've also seen some at Target, but they're usually smaller.

Wine Country gift baskets are GREAT! They are very reasonably priced, high quality and most have FREE shipping. I think the website is winecountrygiftbaskets.com or just google it.

I second Wine Country Gift Baskets. I have bought from them a couple of times and have been very happy. Very reasonable prices.

Just a word of caution regarding Wine Country Gift Baskets. I had a friend receive one and when I complemented her on the great looking gift basket, she said it was not actually that impressive.
Turns out that they look nice, until you start disassembling them to find there is very little actually in them. She showed me some things and it was pretty skimpy.

I always mention Ebates, but right now alot of vendors are offering double rebates. Harry and David currently has a 7% rebate and I had recently checked out another vendor that has really nice baskets...www.giftbaskets.com and they are offering a 10% rebate via ebates and free shipping.---Kathy

My Mom got some good ones from The Popcorn Factory based on an ad she saw in the Parade Magazine insert. I think they were like $14.99.

I was thinking of doing my own basket, but shipping charges are always so much. Might still look into this a little more.

I did send something years ago via Winecountry. I forgot about that one.

I totally forgot Sam's Club. I do have a Sam's card. I will take a look tomorrow.

Thanks alot everyone.

We just went thru a family funeral and received a Harry & David basket. I'm glad we got it so I know NOT to send one to anyone else. It was a a very large, expensive (and very thoughtful) gift not worth the $$$. On the other hand, my mother has been receiving their fruit of the month and it has been exceptional. Always fresh & tasty. The best gift we received was an Edible Arrangement. Definately worth the $$. Very fresh, delicious and totally unexpected.

We just received a Harry & David basket, and it was awesome! :cool1:Very little "filler" paper in it - it was chock full of goodies that are delish! I would send one of them as a gift in a heartbeat . It was our first one from them - we've received others from other places and never been impressed.

I keep thinking about them, but it seems the individual items look so TINY..have you seen one in person and do the contents look too little?
you might also try Dancing Deer an online company. I didn't know you could order baskets from SAMs..hmmm

You can order online at Samsclub .com It looks like they have more available online than whats in the stores. Good Luck !

OP - I just noticed you wanted to send one basket to RI. I'm posting a link to Daves Marketplace here in RI (several locations). Their baskets are awesome and they are a well known and well liked institution here in RI. On the bottom of the page is a link for their gift baskets for more info and pics.

Have you looked at Wolfermans? Who doesn't eat breakfast food? I prefer them over a Harry & David basket (although they sell Wolfermans in the H&D outlet??). I have received a few too.

I have discovered that after a holiday Harry and David really mark down their products. I usually send baskets to myself, take off the Christmas or Valentine's decoration and hand deliver the gift to a friend. I know, OP, that you can't do that but keep it in mind-those of you who are near a Harry and David. I also shop their clearance online often. We just got two huge boxes of pears for half price-still expensive but wonderful fruit! Then, I went to their Friends and Family sale at our local store and got 25% off everything I purchased. I'm making my own holiday gift baskets. Many of them will be delivered Thanksgiving weekend instead of waiting for Christmas.

Same company. There's another one in there too.
