Well I thought that seeing as I will probably be having to do another one of these pretty soon I had better finish this one!
so here we are:

Day 7 Epcot for NEW YEARS EVE! - warning there are lots of pictures on this day!!

Today as we were planning on staying up till past midnight to see the new year in with the fireworks and stuff we decided that we would have a lazy start to the day, I laid in until Shelby woke me – she had ended up in bed with me again but we cuddled till about 10am, unfortunately I wasn’t feeling too good and had to keep running to the loo, I think I got food poisoning, and at one point the trip to Epcot looked like it might be off for me. I went back to bed at about 12 ish and when I got up at 2.30 I felt a lot better. DH and dad had taken the kids to the local play area and they had also had a swim. We were meant to be meeting some other DISers at the Rose and Crown at 3pm but there was no way that we would make it. I was a bit peeved about that, but it couldn’t be helped. Sorry Guys!

Terry and Lou had left at 11am for Epcot and they said that there were no problems with late entry and the CM on the entrance had told them that they wouldn’t be closing the gates today which was good. MK on the other hand was apparently closed at midday to new entry so I am glad that we didn’t decide to go there.

We left the house at about 3pm in the end and headed to Spaceship Earth. The wait time was 60 minutes but we thought we might as well wait and give it a go – the wait was 45 in the end, the kids loved it and we really liked the new end and start to the ride. I liked Judy Dench’s narration – every time I hear her now it reminds me of the holiday! Shelby liked the flying letters overhead but wasn’t too keen on the dark! When we came out it was raining :guilty:

We had arranged to meet up with Terry and Lou but this went by the wayside as the kids were having fun with the innovations area, and we spent some time in the shops sheltering from the rain. We went to get some dinner at the USA – I LOVE the honey mustard sauce!!!! :) It was raining really hard by now and we were soaked – luckily the eating area was undercover but the floor in the restaurant was very slippy and there didn’t seem to be many people cleaning up. Shelby ate a whole hot dog!! That was amazing in itself as she seems to eat like a sparrow! The rest of us had chicken sandwiches and Harley was sleeping.

There were a lot of people wandering round with hats and noisemakers – the next thing we knew we had them too! Great fun and something for free in Disney!!
Shelby loved her hat and wore it for most of the time, she couldn’t muster enough puff for the blow out thingy though!

Next it was time for nappy changes all round. We went to the baby care centre for the 1st time and I was very impressed with it and the facilities – someone had left their carrot sticks behind and there was a frantic CM running round trying to find the child that they belonged to!

We decided to walk around the World Showcase for a while and wait for the Illuminations of Earth show to start. Just as it was about to begin the rain started again, so I would guess that we saw about half of the show as we ran for cover. I had forgotton to bring rain covers for the strollers so we had to kind of huddle over the kids to keep them dry. We went over to the Nemo Ride at the Living Seas and walked straight on, on the way past Soarin we saw that it was a 6 hour wait in the standby line! Oh MY GOD!

We took the kids on the Nemo ride and wandered around downstairs in the living seas for a while

then Mom and Dad went on the Land boat ride while Matt and I sat with the kids as they had finally both zonked to sleep. I had taken some cheapo glow stick type ears with me and the CM’s were all commenting on them. We swapped with mom and dad and went on the Land – I love this ride, yes I know it’s not the most thrilling of everything in Disney but I just think the things that you see are amazing!

After this Matt and I went over to get him a new T Shirt from Mouse Gear as he was soaked through and mother kept telling him that he was going to catch his death! Ha ha this was what he got!

We decided to head over to where the DJ was playing in the Innovesntions / Fountain area, this was where we stayed till Midnight the DJ was cool, he had big white Mickey Hands on and really got the crowd going, my mom thought she was at a rave - hilarious! She hates this picture too! :lmao:

the kids had got some flashing light things that we bought for $5 each and they were happy with those,

the countdown to the big finale was amazing, there was a little firework display for each of the countries in the world showcase and then the fireworks for the USA New Year kicked off, I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen anything or heard anything like it. They were just spectacular, there isn’t even a word to explain it.

Once it was all over we wished everyone a Happy New Year and wandered happily out to the parking lot, surprisingly the line to get out of the parking lot was short and there were fireworks going off all over the place on the way back down the highway. The kids went off to sleep in the car and we carried them into the villa. Then we all went off to bed!

Tomorrow – Downtown Disney, Shopping / Rest Day

Lovely report and hope you have had a good NYE this year over there too.

6 hour line for Soarin, I thought 4 hours 40 minutes was bad enough when Wayneg reported back from this NYE. Who in their right mind would wait that long?
