Hardwood Floor suggestions

OK. I love my hardwood floors. But my lab kindly deposits fur everywhere. This time of year I have to sweep twice a day. We get him groomed and I do brush him often but this time of year is nuts. So I would like to find a vacuum for my floors. I would still have to do the floors two times a day I am sure. But I think a vacuum might do a better job. Does anyone have any recommendations of what type of vacuum to purchase? Thanks all!

We have hardwoods downstairs too. We bought a Roomba and run it regularly. Our dog isn't much of a shedder, but when my mother's Border Collie comes that thing is worth it's weight in gold~ We just set it to run every night about 12:30am and it picks up a lot of that long collie hair. All our bedrooms are upstairs so we don't even hear it. My sister also has one because she has two long-haired cats. Hers runs every day and it does a very good job of picking up the hair out of the carpets. She goes over the carpet with her big vacuum about twice a week.

Don't all vacuum cleaners come with a floor attachment??

We have had a central vac in our last few houses, but our trusty Kenmore canister vacuum is 20 yrs old and still does the job. DH has it in the garage and uses it now to clean the car interiors.

Canister vacuums are the best for hard surface flooring. They're easy to maneuver in to corners and under furniture where pet hair gathers. I can't stand upright vacuums. They're great for carpets and rugs, but I find them quite impractical for a house that is mostly hard surface flooring.

I ADORE my Eureka Mighty Mite. It's at least 15 years old and still going very strong! I have more cats in my house than I'd like to admit, so picking up pet hair is top priority for me when it comes to a vacuum.

Seems like it's a pretty cheap model too! http://www.amazon.com/Eureka-3670G-Mighty-Canister-Vacuum/dp/B00002N8CX

My mother had a Miele that was great on pet hair too, but those things are very pricey.

I have the Dyson DC65 Animal. I love it! We have hardwood and tile for flooring on the first floor, stairs, upstairs hallway and bathrooms. Our bedrooms have carpet. This vacuum gets in all the corners and edges of the room. It can fit partially under furniture too. We have a golden retriever that sheds like crazy and this is the first vacuum we have had that does a really good job of sucking up the fur everywhere.

Oh, the shedding of labs is crazy this time of year. I did a two part process when I had my lab mix. I have a bissell sweeper (It's cordless that I recharge after using) and then take my microfiber libman floor mop and dry mop to pick up anything the vacuum didn't get. I swear I could fill a plastic grocery bag a day with all the fur I pick up.

I use our cordless dyson animal. And when Im done, I just empty the canister in the yard. Its just too convenient.
