hard to find December dining reservations

We are having a hard time making dining reservations for December.
I know its late in the game but I've never seen it like this before. We really wanted Liberty tree & Boma which both have zero opening for the times we are there. Actually for the two weeks we will be there, there are only a few opening at Disney springs.
Do you think this is due to large crowds? or reduced staffing/capacity at restaurants?

There is a cancel page thread on these boards, and I was shocked to see one poster has 7 reservations for a Saturday in Dec and 5 for a Sunday. That could explain then why others can’t get reservations.

Have you tried checking by entering the hour instead of "Breakfast", "Lunch", and "Dinner" - I think you probably did 'coz you are seeing Disney Springs results. but I find that I have to rely on entering like 9am, or 7pm, etc to find anything. Having said that, i noticed things are pretty dry the week leading up to Christmas.

I think it's both. Hopefully, having Storybook Dining at WL and Boatwright's at POR reopen will help.
