Hard time deciding when to purchase

We've known we wanted more points for Disneyland trips for a while because we know we want to be in 1-bedrooms as much as possible. But we really thought we'd just do more VGC resale. For a while I thought we might do just 50 VGC (resale or direct, whichever showed up.) But then we thought 75-100 would probably be better.

Then someone here, maybe AstroBlasters, pointed out how long VDH is priced direct, even compared to resale VGC. So that's when I started shifting toward that.

We weren't super "sold" on the idea until we were able to tour it in December. I was super worried about the extra walk. I still think I won't necessarily care for the walk, but I don't think it's as big of a drawback as I originally thought.

I just hope I don't have trouble getting a 1-bedroom for a week each year...mostly in June. I can't really "walk" it much either since June is our UY.
Maybe you get the 1BR you want at VGC by banking or borrowing.

The points at VDH will unlock all the member perks that I know you feel like you don't care about, but trust me you will really appreciate having. Plus you will be able to use them at Riv and LSL at 7 months. Then there's Disneyland Forward to consider. I think VDH seems like a great move for you, and it's cool that it is so different from VGC.

My memory is a little fuzzy on that. It sure felt like longer than one day. 🤣
I went on the boards and asked if people thought vdh was
right for me, they said yes, so I was like okay and then it was a smooth transaction with no other thought. That is my recollection. I didn't need a thread with thousands of posts to help me along the way.

I think you may have accidentally inhaled

That six months no interest on the Disney visa makes the pill a whole lot easier to swallow. I agree there’s a fine line between anxiety and excitement and I’m frequently a little freaked out in the first few days after a purchase. But without exception I end up being very happy about it in the end.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy about it!

One day...but 1000 posts. 🤣

We should be able to get a 1-bedroom for both our VGC and our VDH trips. We'll have 160 points at each so with alternating years, it basically gives us 320 for each trip. Plenty for 1 week in a 1 bedroom at our preferred times.

I can see us definitely checking out LSL some day. And I'd like to stay at Ft. Wilderness Cabins sometime. We used to have a camper and sometimes I really miss that campground feeling.

I was told 45 days to spread out the payments. I didn't request an extension on that, but can confirm that 45 days is what they said the max was earlier this month. They said they were totally happy to spread payments over multiple cards to hit the spend bonuses.

Sorry your guide is out, that is certainly not ideal when you are ready to make a decision. ☹️
I can confirm this. We bought yesterday and were told the same thing.

I have a bunch of questions so I hope the person I get on the phone will answer all those.

Can someone give me a somewhat detailed rundown of how purchasing direct works? What are all the steps? When do you sign things? Etc.?

If you think you might end up rescinding the contract, I'd wait until 2/4 to say you want to purchase so you have the 7-day window to walk away. If you are committed to the purchase but straddling the two incentive periods, they can do that now. Just tell them that and don't pay the whole deposit/amount.

Here was our rough rundown- talked to guide and got our options. Told him we have our first contract in a trust. He emailed me Disney's Certificate of Trust document. If you are putting your contract into a trust, you need to complete the document and have it notarized. It basically asks easy questions about your trust and trustees and verifies you are allowed to make a purchase for the trust. Husband and I filled that out and got it notarized at our credit union just in case we decided to make the direct purchase.

We made our decision and emailed the guide to tell them we were ready to purchase and the exact details of what we wanted (resort, fixed week, use year, number of points, etc.) Also emailed him a scan of the notarized Certificate of Trust. He called and wanted to make sure he had all the info correct and needed basic info from both my husband and myself, my credit card number for the deposit, and said to be available to answer a call if needed from the DVC Quality Team. He told us the documents would be sent over within a hour and that we needed to schedule an online contract notary appointment with the link he sent.

The Quality Team did call as they had a brief question on the trust. Then the docusign documents came through and we looked them over and signed. In about an hour, the points were loaded into our account. I scheduled our online notary appointment for like 2 days later. They encourage you to schedule an appointment where all owners will be present at once. Florida and California resort have different notary requirements, so your experience could vary.

For the notary, they wanted us to have our drivers licenses ready to take a picture of on my phone. The appointment started, but they had me bounce back and forth from my computer to phone to do the uploads of our licenses. Then the live appointment started and we signed. The notary took 5-10 minutes total. The whole process is really easy. The hardest part was the decision!

So yeah....earlier tonight, I decided to just go into the chat and ask member services how I can lock in the current incentives with my guide out of town until February 16th. The guy on the chat was like "I can help you with that. Your guide is a good friend of mine!" One thing led to another....and my new points have already been added to my account. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I feel bad our guide didn't get the commission but I'm sure it's common for stuff like this to happen. I have no idea if that means this new guy is our guide now or not though? He was very nice and helpful. Answered all my questions.

The only thing that was kind of a bummer, he said our free Disney+ D23 membership wasn't enough for the discount. I know people here said that it was for them but he wouldn't do it. So we just quickly upgraded to the Gold membership so we still saved around $450 with that.

We're breaking the payment into thirds. If new incentives are better, I can just call and he'll change it. I honestly doubt they will be but you never know.

Also - for any other Nebraskans out there - we only have THREE days to change our minds, not 7 or 10.

We did MB on the 2025 points. Our last payment is mid-March.

The points already showed up on our account. So that's that! We are VDH members now and direct members! Woohoo!! Now I have to wait until July to book our first VDH stay. I hope a 1-bedroom will be available for our dates!
