Hard Rock Hotel / room keys

My family of 5 will be going to the Hard Rock Hotel for 4 nights 5 days at the end of April . I have 3 teenage boys 16, 15 & 13. I have booked a deluxe room which from reading should be comfortable for all of us. I was just wondering about the room keys. I have read everyone in the room gets their own room key which is their pass in & out of the parks, the rides and restaurants. I am worried about my kids loosing them. Are the room keys like a credit card? Just wondering should I buy like an ID necklace the kids can insert the key into? Just wondering what kids have used to keep their room keys safe while on the water rides and out w/o their parents? any suggestions or comments?

The lanyards are a great idea. That seems to be the most popular way to keep the cards safe.

You room keys are not your pass in and out of the park. You have to buy separate park tickets. The room key is what you show at the attractions for your FOTL benefit.

I will be in Universal staying at the HRH, in a deluxe room with my family of 5 the middle of May. Daughters 16,14,11. It would be great if you could let me know how you like the room (enough room?, worth the money etc.) and even how your kids liked Universal overall. It's our first time and can't wait

No problem - We are looking forward for the trip we were there in 2000 and the Hard Rock was just being built. We are spending a lot of money staying in the Hard Rock but I am hoping the FOTL will pay for itself. My kids love rides and they are looking forward in staying in the Hard Rock - I will definately let you know how we make out during our stay -

Cargo pants with a ziplock pocket is a good idea. Doesn't matter if the card gets wet. I would withhold charge prividledges on the kids cards in case they lose them. Just give them some cash if they are running off on their own. Or meet them for lunch, use your credit card to pay, then they can get back to the parks.
