Well we started off our trip in Miami, then spent one night at Vero on our way up to Universal. We arrived Monday after the storm had passed. The only affect it had on our trip was a bit of heavy surf Sunday at Vero. Otherwise we were unaffected.
We had 2 club level rooms at HRH and one regular room which was on the 6th floor. Both club level rooms were in great shape the maid service was good. I am not sure what the scale is for on vacation? who would want to weigh themselves;) Our club rooms were 2 connecting and we kept the doors open all the time. There was more than enough spcae for all of us. However with 5 kids between the 2 rooms the deluxe would have been nicer.
After being away and meeting breakfast needs for all the kids for 5 days already by the time we reached the HRH..... The club breakfast was a godsend. It was more than adequete for our needs. And with the amount of little ones alone... the convience factor was worth it. there were many types of donuts, cereal, breads, bagels and of course fresh fruit.
We all enjoyed the property alot. However we had a few snafus, that I have never had in Disney. first off everyone seemed to be smoking everywhere it permeated the pool areas and once a man had a lit cigar in the elevator about an inch from my 4 year olds ear. I was not pleased. Secondly there were alot of people they were quite drunk. Tell me please how do you sit in the pool in 100 degree heat and get blasted? I would have been puking my guts out. I mean alot of drunken people. I am not sure if the HRH atmosphere lends to this and perhaps the Portofino Bay this is not the case? Can anyone illuminate me as to the veracity of that? Now for the really bad and annoying aspects of this trip. Several months out I had booked the Scooby Dinner and the spiderman breakfast at Confiscos/ Ok so I spend time talkking up the dinner on Wednsday to the children. I call at 6pm on Tuesday to confirm the time. They tell me yes, you are confirmed. Ten minutes later Valerie calls from the lounge to tell me /// That sorry it has been canceled for the evening in favor of an adults only Martini night. Are you freaking kidding me? Noone had told me or made any attempts to right this major snafu as far as the kids were concerned. I was very miffed. But figured ok let it go. We took them offsite to Burger King.
On mOnday we spent the evening after arriving in the pool. We did not go to the lounge at night we forgot. The kids did get a pillow gift of Peace necklaces which they all loved.
Tuesday we had breakfast in the lounge and walked over to Universal. Did a few rides. Jaws, Shrek, earthquake, MIB,Had lunch at Mels and a ice cream then we decided to go back. Half the group stayed to do the Mummy the rest of us left. We simply melted. after renting Scooby on Pay pere view and relaxing for an hour. We ordered room service for the 5 small kids. which they loved it was a nice presentation with the kids cups and colored plates. They brought in the table and they ate and watched the Movie. After we went to the pool and swam till around 10pm. We did got o the lounge and had Ice cream and cookies. Contrary to reports we never saw any cookies other than oreos and chocolate chip. still the kids were pleased. They had key chain pillow gifts when we came back. Off to bed!
On wednsday we decided to spend the morning in the pool and ventured over to IOA after the kids burger king dinner. We went straight to Seuss landing did the couch ride and carousel, Then we went to See Sinbad which was down, then crossed over to Posedian. This was a bad choice. We had a group of very drunk men in thre with us. and at the very beginning when they turn off the lights one of them leaned forward and screamed at the top of his lungs directly into my sons ear. On purpose and directly into it. who then of course was terrified. My Db very nicely said. what is ythe matter with you? You scream like a nut in a little ones ear. to wit he advanced towards my DB and said some bad swear words. Now mind you advanced at him while he was holding my son. It got ugly in an instant. I pushed my db to the side had the other twin in my arms. And said some bad things to the man. And told him what I would do to him if he ever advanced towards my son again. He was so drunk teh smell could have knocked you down. At this point his freinds also drunk said ok sorry.......I was livid.I said fresh things. it was not fun. After that I was done we came out of the ride and left the ride did not scare the jack*** next to us did. Back to the lounge where they had popcorn and again the packaged cookies. Tonights gift was luggage tags not so exciting for the kids.

To bad that you had to run into idiots like that. I did notice people smoking outside of the smoking areas. Never in line for the attractions. Never ran into any drunken people. Never stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, but never saw any problems at the Portofino. Hopefully your next stay will be better.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience on PF. Jerks think it's funny to yell on rides not realizing they're ruining it for others.
Another reason to visit the parks early as this stuff doesn't happen first thing in the morning.

When I'm in line for a ride, I pay attention to the people around me. If they're loud and noisy, I move our party away from them by letting others pass.

sorry you had to deal with such jerks:mad:

would you mind telling me what type of evening offerings the HRH club had?

you mentioned ice cream- they had this in individual containers or did you scoop yourself?

did you have to ask for turndown service to get the little goodies for the kids?

otherwise i hope you had a great vacation
thanks for posting

The evening offerings were as follows. ( What I can remember that is) There were crudites each night and all nights but the last these were accompanied with a blue cheese dip. One night along with this there were chicken wings. which several members of my party said were quite good.
On our last night the offerings were alot more than usual. This time there were also crudites with a thousand Island dip. there were chicken satays. Teriaki I believe. they were served cold which was kind of weird? With several types of dipping sauces. These were also paired with vegatarian eggrolls from a warmer. Which I did have and were excellant. There was beer and wine served nightly handed to you from a server. There were mini cokes, sprite, and diet cokes as well as water all warm. Yhese were available all day.
The ice cream was in a large emack and Bolios container in an ice bucket. Little sample sixed cups were provided and you scooped yourself. Actually the night the Popcorn was offered they also had chocolate and vanilla pudding. Also self serve. None of us had any though. It was definately worth it.

Nice report pity other guests can't respect others people space as well:jester:

Thanks for the info, We are staying at the HRH Club in a couple of weeks. It will be our 1st club level stay. Hope it is worth the extra $$. We paid $237 per night. We'll have to see how it goes.

Patty

Just returned and best thought was that before we got on the elevator to go down - we always got a water for each of us out of the club area. This alone was worth $10.00 each time.
