If you could choose one dinner at either of these restaurants, which one would it be and why? Thanks a lot for your responses.

Well, on the basis that we eat at the Hard Rock Cafe each time we visit and we've only eaten at The Kitchen once, I guess I'd have to say the HRC. It's the biggest one in the World, and there's something very special about it. The food's OK - not great, but nothing wrong with it either and more than acceptable of its type.

The Kitchen is fine - again, nothing to rave about (and I probably wouldn't bother going back), but nice enough. If you've never visited the Hard Rock Hotel, it's probably worth it just to have a nose around.

I have not heard great things at all about the Kitchen for dinner. Having said that, we have done the breakfast buffet several times and it was great!!! Two places we almost always eat are Hard Rock Cafe and Margaritaville.

Never ate at the kitchen, but never had a bad meal at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Ate at the HRC once and it was fun.
Most on this board don't rave about the food.
In our case, we ordered 3 appetizers and shared them. The Jumbo Combo and Casedias are really good. The nachos are so so.
There are all kinds of pictures and musical instruments on the walls, and most booths have a TV within easy view with music videos playing. Yeah, in this day of MTV, it's really amazing to see music videos on a tv screen, instead of some reality show.
If you do visit the HRC, try to go early, otherwise the service will be slow. Try going just before noon, or 4pm and stick with the apps and simple food.

Had breakfast once at the Kitchen - very good.

We always eat dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe when we're at Universal. We have always had good food and the atmosphere is cool. It is loud - in case that kind of thing bothers you.

We also enjoy Margaritaville - great burgers.

We love The Kitchen, we have never had a bad meal there and always had really good service.

The Hard Rock Cafe is a must just to see the place and all the cool stuff on the walls. Unfortunately for us, the food was so bad we will never return. The nachos were really terrible, and my son (who loves food and never complains about anything) could not finish his hamburger, he said it was really bad tasting. This was not a kids meal burger either, but off the regular menu.

Margaritaville is always a must for us too.

Thanks for all the responses.

We have eaten at the HRC once and thought it was pretty good. Some meals were better than others. Great milkshakes.

Never been to the Kitchen. Thinking of going just for an excuse to go to the HRH.

Thanks again.

We have eaten in both restaurants about 30+ times.

Out of the two I would have to go for the Hard Rock Cafe:

The HRC is fun, has a great atmosphere and the food is great too. Especially the Jumbo to share and a NY strip or the fajita combo. The place is loud, but thats adds to the atmosphere. They love repeat customers in this place and will always go out of their way to make you feel special. The last time we were there the manager came over to our table and said the meal was on the house. She even gave our 2 year old daughter a personal tour of the cafe! When we returned she had a present ready to give her.

The Kitchen is another good themed restaurant. A bit quiter than the HRC, but still has a good atmosphere. The food is is slightly more upmarket and more expensive. We have ocassionally seen a few Universal characters (scooby and Woody) in there. It has a great childs play area at the back of the restaurant. If you go there for breakfast, it can work out quite expensive.

Thanks Pauldent. That is exactly what I was looking for. Great comparison.

We just ate at HRC 4 times in 5 days! Once just for dessert. Twice we had the Jumbo Combo and it is really good. We had excellent service each time and never had to wait long for a table...even though we went for dinner at 7:30 Saturday and Sunday nights, without reservations. If you want a good dessert, order either the chocolate chip cookie pie, or the hot fudge chocolate brownie sundae...both are delish and plenty to share with several people.

We really like Hard Rock cafes!

The one in Orlando is the necest one, I think.

Jumbo Combo, yes, yummy! Love those spring rolls.

herc.

We have gone to HRC in the past...but we have never ordered a Jumbo Combo.

HRC here we come! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

M&Co

I would suggest the Hard Rock, but then I am smitten with the pulled pork sandwich and order one every chance I get. You alway's see something interesting too, whether it's the people or the memorabilia!
