I'm only going to dine at one restuarant @ City Walk during our stay and I've narrowed it down to Hard Rock Cafe & Margaritaville.

Which one has better food and is better for KIDS!!

Thanks!
Katherine

I vote for Margaritaville. I thought the kids menu was superb. My son got the Cheeseburger in Paradise and it was huge and my daughter got Spaghetti and Meatballs and it was very, very, good. I tried it and it was homemade and delicious. They also had fancy drinks for kids, parrot mask, and a cool interior - boat booths, ect. and the volcano!!

I think older kids would like the Hard Rock just because it is "cool". I'm not sure how old your kids are - so that may sway your decision.

Have fun deciding!!

Tigerlilly's Mom...I didn't know that Margeritt'v had boat booths and parrot mask etc......sounds really nice for children. How did I miss that one last time over!

I think she's referring to the seating area right as you come in to the left (across from the bar sorta) that's shaped like a ship. The mask i believe may have the menus' printed on them or something i saw kids last weekend with them so they have them either way. My vote is definetly margaritville. Food is great atomsphere is awesome kids will love it and so will the parents.

Actually, there are some "boat booths". They are booths against the wall shaped liked boats. They have painted scenes on the wall and porthole like windows - really cute. I only noticed a few of the booths though, and we didn't get one. But, they looked really fun.

I can't wait to go to Margaritaville on our next trip - I think I will drag hubby there first!!!

Wow...I never would have considered Margaritaville for kids...but I guess I wouldn't know since I'm a teenager and into the "cool" places like Hard Rock Cafe ;)

I've only eaten at Margaritaville once and it was nice. I don't like Jimmy Buffet music and it was torture to listen to it (:p) so be warned if your kids are old enough to recognize and complain about it!! :) Hard Rock is probably more teenager and adult geared, but they have great food. I always go to HRC whenever I go to Universal...they have great boneless bodacious [chicken] tenders :p Though they show music videos, and depending on your kids' age, you might want to be wary of what content may be in them (I haven't seen any "bad" ones, but doesn't mean they don't show them, I guess...and your kids may not even pay attention to them anyway). I think they try to keep it family friendly because I see kids eat there and enjoy themselves, plus the employees are nice.

I say, for those under 10, maybe Margaritaville and those older than that may prefer Hard Rock? But I guess you can't really go wrong either way. :)

Another Margaritaville vote! My kids love it as well and it has come to be our tradition to have the first meal here. The boat booth's are cool we sat in one too. I also love eating on the porch, but the kids keep running inside to check the volcano! The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful! Check out the chocolate layer cake...its huge! The nachos are great as well. It's all good. :)I have had the cheeseburger in paradise, cuban meatloaf and jambalya.

New learning for me. That's great. I will definitely take my son there on our next trip. However, I don't think you can go wrong with either place. They both have kid's menus.

Another factor is how well your kids and you respond to loud music. HRC is loud, but that is its nature. Margaritaville is more mellow.

When we ate at Margaritaville this past April they had clowns on stilts going around to each table making balloon animals for the kids. They also had live music playing. My kids loved it (I didn't mind the strawberry margartias either-I had 2)!

Thanks for all the replies :p !!

I was leaning more to Margaritaville before, but now I'm convinced!

I will be staying at RPR so Margaritaville is closer anyways.

Do they have the clown on stilts doing balloon animals all the time or is it only on weekends or at a certain time during the evening  ?

Thanks,
Katie

I believe they have that in the outdoor seating only - we were indoors and I didn't see any of that. So, if that was a priority for you - sit outside.

Not sure about weekend/weekdays - someone else will know though.

We went to both this past July and loved Margaritaville!!!! We were with a 12 and 13 year old and they loved it there as well!! We were on the porch and there was a really funny guy on stilts making baloon hats, etc. for the kids!! We totally had a blast and cannot wait to go back!!

Just the other day my 12 year old son told me that he wanted a "cheesburger in paradise"!!!

Enjoy!!!
