does anyone know if Mike's hard lemonade is allowed under the new alcohol policy?

It's a malt beverage. Sometimes the bottles say, "flavored beer." YMMV. Technically, by Federal standards, Mike's is a beer since it is a malt beverage and is not distilled.

That said, the port folks on our last cruise didn't even blink at my beverage cans on the XRay. They didn't ask, nor did they look at them. I could have brought anything in a can onboard.

That's a good point. I don't know about hard lemonade specifically however if the label said the word "beer" on there even if it said flavoured beer I would feel pretty safe bringing it. I've always thought of hard lemonade as a vodka based drink so that would not be allowed but it wouldn't hurt to check the label of your favourite brand.

I posted a thread a week ago asking if anyone has had anything confiscated trying to board, because my husbands bottles of beer and my bottles of wine were wrapped in green plastic bubble wrap in our carry-ons at PC and nothing was asked/checked/questioned. No one has commented that anything except hard liquor has been confiscated. So I think even wine coolers, Smirnoff, malt liquor, or any wine/beer type beverage must be OK, in spite of the confusing wording in the policy naming only wine, champagne, or beer as being allowed. Such technicalities are confusing. It looks like they would almost just use alcohol content as the guideline.

it is in canada.
Glad you said that cause I suddenly thought I had been drinking a malt beverage when I was younger and I really didn't think I had been! Here's the bottle as sold in Canada.

i used to drink 'Mikes Hard Lemonade' and i can tell you it was a shock when i had a bottle in the U.S.. Malt based is not good! JMO.

I'm Canadian too and didn't realize there was a difference in what they sell as the same beverage in the USA until I recently read about it online. I've only tried our versions.

This really torques me as a GF cruiser because our beer choices are limited to bad, but there are a ton of great ciders that are out there that I can't take on even though they have the same alcohol content as beer.

Great job thinking this policy through DCL!

I wonder if they would notice hard root beer? I brought root beer as my FE gifts. Not a hard version, but I am GF and I love hard rootbeer.

Does anyone know if Mikes is sold in any of the bars on the Fantasy? Just curious!

I am guessing because it has beer in the name you would be fine. You have me curious, what hard root beers are GF. I would be interested in trying one, it would be a nice break from ciders. I am just hoping that the Magic has Omission beer on board, I saw that the Fantasy had it.

Hard root beer is just flavored beer. It specifically says ale with flavors added on the side of the bottle.

Oh man, I remember the first time I tried a Smirnoff Ice in the US (circa 2000) and nearly spit it out. its night and day with the Canadian vodka beverages.
