So very excited to get to see (and EAT!) at the new Harambe Market. It is on a walk-through path that now connects the Asia walkway with the area near the trainstop for Rafiki's Planet watch.

The theming is great, and there are 4-5 different "shops" with a variety of African themed foods.

These are great counter service options for those on the DDP, and great value OOP.

To the right of the Rib shop, you can see the train to Rafiki's travel past.

The wooden tables and benches are beautiful, have already told DH we need to make some for the Farm! :)

Oh yes. There was food. Lots of food. As a good DIS reporter, I felt it imperative that we try some of everything. I think we nearly succeeded.

Left to Right, Beef flatbread, Chicken K Bob, Milk Tart (chocolate crust, coconut filling) Drinks,
Watermelon Lemonade (snack credit, not a beverage, SOOO worth it!!!) Red is Sparberry Soda, Green is another of the Coke foreign sodas. Both were terrific, and a nice change from the usual choices.
CurrySausage.jpg

Not your usual corndog, this is real sausage in a light cornbread/curry breading. Very tasty. All the meals came with the broccoli salad. Nice and refreshing, and different. My guess is that it will not last long as it is pretty high in acid, so the general public may not embrace it. Son's new fiancé would not even try it.

If that looks like a big pile of meat, you win! That is the "spare rib" dish. May have pulled out 2 small bones, the rest was all meat. This is the side view cut.

Lots of fun signs and theming around this area. A SUPER addition to AK!!!

(Yes, I made our family shirts with the signs from the AK walls. The CM's loved them!!!)

Kwaharini, Y'all!

Love this!!! I can't wait to see (and try!!!) it all in November! Thank you for taking the time to post. Congrats to the two lovebirds!!

Looks very good - will make sure we stop in July. What was your favorite item there?

It looks great! Did you happen to notice any vegetarian options? Everyone in the preview had said there were none :( - I'll have one veggie & one celiac on my trip so food is a huge challenge for us.

Crap. Now I gotta try everything. I haven't budgeted this in. Love the theming and your report. Congrats on your son's engagement!

Looks amazing, I can't wait to try EVERYTHING!! Thank you so much for the pictures, and congratulations to your son and his new fiancé! :lovestruc

I don't remember any veggie option, other than I would guess you could order the broccoli salad as a side separately. Hopefully they will come up with a vegetable k-bob!

All of it was excellent! The 2 things that I will order first next trip are the ribs, and the wonderful Watermelon lemonade (which I didn't think I would care for!) Having said that, the chicken was pretty tasty.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share, kaybird! I love the Harambe area of Africa, and look forward to seeing and experiencing the new market. Your photos are awesome! And congratulations to your son and to you on your new daughter-in-law to be! I love their shirts too by the way!

I find it disappointing that they couldn't come up with any vegetarian options at least at one of the kiosks. So few CS veg options :(

Thank you for the review and pretty pics. Probably will walk through anyways just to have a look.

We loved it too! We had the chicken, ribs, and milk tart. Three of us shared two QS meals with no problem at all. It was very tasty and filling.

Having seen photos of all the menus, there is nothing vegetarian for adults. Very big frown. The only veg thing is the kid's snack pack (like the power packs offered at HS). We are a vegetarian/vegan family, and TS seems to be the best option in AK: Yak & Yeti and Tusker House.

It is close. Not as smooth, as the coconut gives it more texture. The crust is very good. I would say if you like flan, you will like it.

I was wondering about these and if they would be smooth or not. So there are actual pieces of coconut or coconut flake in it? I wouldn't be able to swallow it if it had actual coconut pieces, even if it is real small. Dang it.

We enjoyed our lunch there yesterday. At the building housing the two grill (kebabs) and sausage windows, the CM let us know that you could order from either menu at either window (not limited to ordering sausages at the sausage window). The kebab window had a much longer line, so that tip saved us some time. Not sure if that also applies to the ribs.

A kind fellow visitor gave us an untouched coconut tart that her family didn't want (it was funny, because she stops by, says, usually I wouldn't do this, but hey, it's Disney, so it's OK, right?, and offered it). We liked it. I don't remember any pieces of coconut. My DH says he would describe it as sort of like a rice pudding, soft but slightly varying texture.

We ate there 2 days ago. I was with my nieces and daughter, and we all got the grilled chicken skewer kids meals. You could get the chicken with barbeque sauce or without. Also, our kids meals had just plain broccoli instead of the broccoli salad. It also had apple slices or baby carrots. It was plenty for a snack or a light meal. I agree that the theming is amazing.

that's great to know. I dislike onions so a kids kabob with plain broccoli would be perfect for me. I often do kids meals as I find multiple small items is more fun then just one big meal.
Plus as I'm going to do the dining plan this trip so changing the flan (allergies can't eat) for an extra side would be perfect if I decided to use a credit instead of OOP for a kids meal. (I'm assuming I could substitute plain broccoli for the salad if I got an actual meal instead of a kids portion)
