I just wanted to say happy veteran's day and a big THANK YOU to all on the boards who are serving or have served, as well as the families of those who are serving or have served.

When I was younger, I never really thought much about Veteran's Day. It didn't mean much. But I knew that Grandpa, was always quite somber on that day. I never understood why.

As I got older, and started to understand what the day was about, I realized that this day was very emotional for him, as it was really a day to reflect about all those he'd served with, many of which had passed while serving or sometime after.

Today, almost a year and 6 months after his passing, the magnitude of this day hits me more than ever.

It's so very important to recognize and be grateful what our veterans have done for us, and the sacrifices that they and their families have made.

Thanks again to all of our serving military and veterans. You are more appreciated than you could possibly know.

What a great post.

As a veteran myself, I find that I grow more contemplative on this day as I get older. I see faces from 40 years ago, some of which never made it back. Its nice to know that people are appreciating those that served in the military.

Great post..... lest we forget.

I'm from the UK and we have remembrance on November 11th, Armistice Day, and then on Remembrance Sunday, which happens to be today.

I find this a very emotional time remembering the sacrifices of yesterday and today. My brother is in the Army and has done 2 tours of Iraq and 5 tours of Afghanistan and will be back next year- and every time it fills me with fear. My Granddad served in WW2 and my Uncle died in war.

I'm only 28 but I really fear that we will grow up with a new generation of children who just wont "get it". People who fought and died to protect our liberties and freedoms, and those who are fighting now to protect the liberties and freedoms of others.... we should never forget that and never take their sacrifice for granted.

Thank you, thank you all- past and present.

Thanks I served ten years in the Air Force was station at Tampa Fl Mac Dill, Frankfurt Germany Rhein Main, And Oxford England Upper Heyford. My job was supply. You make some great friends in armed forces.

Everyday at Disneyland there's a flag retreat ceremony, but the one on Veteran's Day is always extra special.

This year, it included the 1st Marine Division Band and featured retired military and active-duty Cast Members marching down Main Street.
