I have been reading trip reports to get a handle of what to expect when we take our 1st cruise on the wonder in May. The thing is so many of them are negative, filled with major issues and problems. Does anyone have any happy trips reports I can read? I would love ones with young kids in it too (mine are 2 and 6 years old.)

Links is all I am asking for. I don't care how old they are. Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

You can try reading mine...almost finished, one last day.

My kids were 2, 4, and 7 at time of cruising, so you may find some of the posts relevant.

Here's my disclaimer on my TR:

Filled with humor, sarcasm and a prone to exaggeration, but all to benefit the reader. The thoughts expressed herein are the opinion of the author and should not be taken literally. Said author is a responsible parent who enjoys making the reader laugh...preferably out loud and for no apparent reason.

The report is not negative at all - however, there are a couple of negative postings calling into question my decision making abilities. Read on...

Thank you guys. I look forward to reading them!

PhD - I don't have a trip report, but we took a 4 night Wonder in June 2004 when Madison was 3.5 months and we loved it. Obviously cause we're going back in 2 weeks, but for 7 nights! Really, the only bad thing was our room. It was a midship Cat 3, which was beautiful, but right under the pool (Goofy pool though, so better than the Mickey one I think) and ping pong tables with drove my husband insane. He actually slept in a different cabin by himself one night cause the teens were having a dance party right above our bed. Aside from that planning snafu on DCL's part, neither of us have a bad thing to say about the trip.

I haven't posted a trip report by I will say we've been on three Disney Cruises so far and they have all been 'the best vacation ever' with our sons being ages 11, 13, and 15 on our 3 cruises. :goodvibes

Not that I'm Pollyanna, but I read trip reports and kind of skip over negatives. Turning them into positives (maybe I am Pollyanna :rolleyes2) I do try to avoid being disappointed by planning (obsessively the DH thinks) our vacations and excursions utilizing the feedback from these boards.

With that in mind...stay away from the Aquaboats in Grand Cayman. ;)

DisneyPhD,
I think mine is happy, even though the title may be misleading. I'm not finished with it yet, about 1/2 through.

I tried to be honest about what worked for us and what didn't. We had a very nice time, but I think any vacation other than an overnight can be a challenge with kids kindergarten and younger. It just requires some planning (but also very much willing to go with the flow). That's why this vacation was nice for us - we didn't pay for it! If we'd had to shell out several thousand, we would not have chosen to do it at the ages our kids are (1 1/2 and 5). But lots of people do, so they can't all be wrong!:)

Have a great time, and listen to what you know your kids need. If they can stay up late, stay up late. But if they need to get to bed, don't worry about them missing 'that one special activity' - if they're a wreck later, it won't have been worth it. Better to have overall enjoyable family memories.

Best wishes and have a great time!

Thank you everyone. I know what I will be doing this cold and snowy Tuesday while my pot roast cooks in the crock pot! :thumbsup2

tksbaskets, we are like you. Yes, some not so perfect things happen, especially on vacation with young ones. However we don't let it stop us or color the rest of the trip bad. It just seems the trip reports are all about what went wrong instead of what was right. I agree, I do tend to live and learn from them and then plan and pack accordingly. pixiedust:

We are WDW pro's. We know just what to do. However this Cruise is all new to us, and so much to plan for. On the other hand, it is all new and how cool is that?

GrumpyDude was kind to include my TR; it is most definitely positive. . .and I tried to inject just a small amount of humor. ;) Two others outside of GD's that come to mind are FatherForce's and zweihund's. . .both of which are extremly funny. I reference both in my TR and I know I have a link to FF's though perhaps not the other. However, zweihund's is called "Geeks on a Boat." I see neither of these two reports currently on the Cruise TR thread, so they may have been moved to the completed TR thread located elsewhere. Hopefully, the links in my TR will help. WARNING: If you are scared by a picture of a man's feet with painted toenails, don't go to mine. pirate:

Also, I wanted to add that though I'm not a pro at all things WDW as you appear to be, that was my primary focus the first few years. Then we decided to take a cruise. . .our first, and we knew not what to expect either. So, from that perspective, you may find some commonality. Good reading!

Hey there. :)

I just wanted to offer up mine as well. The link is down in my signature. Extremely positive in my opinion, and a blast to write.

I fully endorse Sleepydog's and Zweihund's as well. :thumbsup2
