Happy New Years!! :cheer2:

Hope everyone springs into 2015 with hope, love and charity!!

So this is just for fun. YOU ARE THE WINNER OF THE NEW YEARS LOTTO.

Now here is the fun part, has anyone seen the movie "brewsters millions"? well in the movie the main character, Richard Pryor in order to inherit 300 million has to spend 30 million in 30 days. So you've got 100K you have to spend immediately in order to win the million dollars and you've got to step outside your comfort zone. No being the budgeteers. No saving it (hey it's a year of hope so everybody's savings is full). no paying bills, you've got to spend it.

(the premise of the movie is that the character would build an aversion to spending and not blow his inheritance. sort of like when the Nuns in my Catholic school caught me chewing gum and made me chew 3 entire packs at one time).

What would you buy?

For me, I have one toy I always wanted to buy. I love to bake and cook and on a trip to france I saw an Aga cast iron stove. :cloud9: darn things are so god awful expensive but I think they are so pretty.

;) of course I'd have to redo the entire kitchen, can't have a pretty new oven with a old kitchen

Happy New Years all

New Kia minivan - $25-$30K
New Wood floors for my whole 1st floor - $2K
New HVAC - $15K
New front and 2 back doors - $15K
Gutted and remodeled master bath - $20K
And with the last $18K, a Disney cruise and a trip to London:)...

I could spend even more money, but alas, I'm stuck dreaming for all this stuff and living with what I have:)...

An addition on our house with new furniture and decorating. If anything were left I'd say a new trailer for camping and a new vehicle to tow it with. Don't think 100K is quite enough for all that though so I'd be ecstatic with the house addition!

I'd probably blow most of it on home repairs/renovations - new kitchen, add a master bath, new windows, rewire the place (I still have knob and tube ), update landscaping, etc. It's a 75 year old house - there is plenty of stuff that needs doing.

If there was anything left after all of that (doubtful), I'd go on a trip. Right now I'm planning our summer vacation to Hawaii. It's a challenge to stick to the budget I want but with a few compromises I think I've managed it. But if I HAD to spend 100K, I'd just throw all that out the window and go BIG! Coach FF tickets? Forget about it - first class all the way baby, and not on the cheapest flights - I'd actually pick the ones with the most convenient times for once :rotfl: One bedroom condo? Nah - make it a huge penthouse. Economy rental car? Nope - make it a luxury convertible. Or one of those black SUVs with a personal driver so I don't have to deal with traffic. Cooking most meals in? Well, maybe - but made by a personal chef!

I have always wanted to go visit and stay in an ice hotel! I have no idea why, I hate the cold but they just look so interesting. So I'd pick a trip to northern Sweden to stay there.

Although I would really like to visit New Zealand so we'd have to discuss the options! Or maybe I would just wait for the rest of the lottery and then plan a trip around the world.

In addition, I would like to remodel both upstairs baths, get new flooring for the whole house, and build a screened porch. Also, blow out the doorway between the dining room and kitchen to widen the opening & create a bigger pantry. Plus we need new siding & a new AC. Not to mention the remaining 6 windows we haven't replaced yet. I know that would be more than $100k.

I don't think I'd have any trouble spending $100k!

It would be no problem to spend $100 thousand fixing up our house, the yard, and pool. It would ALL get done at once and be exactly what I wanted. If by chance there was anything left I would take a trip!

Fun to think about

I love those stoves!

I used to look at them years ago at the Domain store in Virginia at Tyson's Corner. Bought a lot of stuff there but never did get that stove.

Now I've forgotten how to cook.....

I'd do a lot of outdoor reno if I had an extra $100K to throw around. Actually that much wouldn't pay for all the little things I would want. But it would be a great start!

60X40 shop with at least 6 roll up doors (16-footers), 3-phase compressor, solar panels & backup generator, and a sectioned off man-cave. Budget is already blown & I haven't even started filling up the unused spaces in the shop :thumbsup2

I've always wanted an Audi so I would buy an Audi SUV. Then I would take part of my deck and make it into a covered deck with electricity so I can have a ceiling fan so I can actually use the deck during the summer. Then if there was any money left over I would redo the master bath and have one of those showers that has lots of sprayers, just cause it looks cool.

I would use it to build a no kill animal shelter - wouldn't exactly cover it all but that's my dream!

Hmmmm.........100K.......payoff some bills ...new kitchen....hardwood floors.....designer to make sense of my style.......european vacation which would include Disney Paris of course. Anything left over (laugh ) is a downpayment on a DVC contract :)

New vehicles for DH (Mustang) DD (a sensible 1st car) and myself (Acadia or other SUV). Pay in full 1st year of college tuition for DD. Upgrade 2 bathrooms, powder/laundry room and kitchen. Paint and new floors for entire house. New back deck, front porch, new shed, complete re-landscape of property. Done all at once and by professionals. Probably would need closer to 200k to achieve it all and of course we haven't been to Disney in several years. A 2 week stay at the Poly would be a nice treat.
