Happy New Year 2011! Emily's MAW/GKTW Trip - The Final Gives!

Thanks everyone. The weather is REALLY not looking good now. Here's a snippet from The Weather Channel - this is the first possible scenario for Sunday into Monday:

Yes we are talking potential blizzard conditions at times for Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City. Some areas would easily see a foot of snow or more.

Heavy snow and high winds would eventually push into southern New England by the early afternoon hours of Monday and continue into the wee hours of Tuesday morning before the storm finally makes an exit.

We are scheduled to fly out of Philly at 11:30 am. :confused3
I'm going to call our coordinator today and ask what we should do. We might have to change our flight, leave on Tuesday, and cut our trip short by a day. :sad1:

I feel like Debbie Downer, but I'm still really excited and know that eventually we'll get there and have a great time!!!

In other news - Em has no fever this morning :woohoo: and Brenna did not get sick any more overnight . So, some things are looking up!!! :grouphug:

:woohoo: for Em and Brenna!!!! Now let's just hope this is a fast moving storm that doesn't hang around as long as they think and does far less dumping of snow!!! :worship:

Wow! Your weather channel is really hyping this up! Locally here in DC they are saying that they can't determine yet. All depends on how close to the coast the storm comes. Everything I am seeing/reading here has it at a 40% chance for accumulating snow Sunday/Monday. So the positive spin on that is that there is, as of now, still a 60% chance of it staying further out in the ocean and getting nothing but cold and wind. I'll keep my fingers crossed for that 60% chance for you (and me-I really don't want to have to deal with snow like that right now. last winter was bad enough!)

I am so glad to hear the girls are feeling better! I'm sure all will work out fine for your trip. Maybe if you have to leave a day late, they could extend it on the other end?

And now we are being given a third possible track for this storm here: http://www.tbd.com/blogs/weather/2010/12/a-6388.html
Really with they'd make up their minds...

Seriously! They do that now, put out 2 or 3 different possibilities for the weather. Really? I could figure out that it might snow, OR it might not snow without a weather report. I mean, wouldn't that be true everyday? It's either going to be sunny or not. It's either going to rain or not!! :rotfl:

Our latest local weather report at 5pm (on the Philly news station) is saying there's a 75% chance that this storm moves further off the coast and out to sea and that we probably won't see snow at all. :dance3:

MAW said, wait and see. The airline will make arrangements for us if our flight is cancelled or delayed. If we had to miss a day, they would possibly add a day at the end depending upon availability. :)

So . . . . I guess we'll wait and see! :rolleyes1

Snow, snow, go away, come again another day! This is one of the times I hope the weather people are just making a big deal for an inch of snow. Still keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Glad to hear that the girls are feeling better.

Merry Christmas!

Hi GUys, I know that snow wants to put a damper on things, but it'll woprk out fine. I don't think it's going to be as bad as they think. I have relatives flying out of Philly on Sunday to some to NE and we are hoping it'll go easy! Get to see a new neice! I love the photos.....the Big Givers are a generous group and their love shines! It is fun to see the smile on Em's face. It says it all. Have a great trip !:banana::banana:

Ok everyone!! I wanted to pop on today to say thank you to everyone who has been reading (lurkers too!) our PTR. We know our Emily is a very special angel, and now I feel like she has so many more people all over the country from the Dis thinking of her too. With Christmas tomorrow, I'm not sure I'll be able to get back on before we leave, so I'd also like to thank anyone who has left a comment, advice, and answered questions while we were planning this amazing trip!

You all have made us feel so special, and we'd like to send an extra special thank you to all of the Big Givers who sent us such amazing gifts - we received more than 20 packages!!!!!!! I know the gorgeous custom outfits and other things you have made for us will just make an already special trip that much more special.

We're bringing our laptop with us, so I hope to post updates from GKTW. If any of you want to "friend" me on Facebook, PM me so we can exchange real names. :) I hope to update FB too for my friends and family. (I'll try to check it before we go!)

Anyway,
We're almost completely packed and ready to go, so we'll "see you real soon"!!!! :santa:

and Merry Christmas!!!

Hope you have an awesome trip!!!!! I went ahead and added you since we have a mutual friend ;) I saw your post the other day.

Aimee-
Hopping on here for a quick second to say 'Have a GREAT trip!!!!!' I hope something gets worked out where if you got delayed maybe you could stay an extra day? I can't wait to hear all about your trip! I hope you guys had a great Christmas!!!! :santa:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes!

We had a very nice Christmas. But, the blizzard they were predicting has hit, and it has been snowing since 9am this morning. Our area and our airport area are expected to get between 8-12" of snow. The snow is supposed to start stopping by 7am, which is when our ride is picking us up. As of right now, our flight status is still on time - we are scheduled to take-off at 11:30am. However, NJ and PA are both in State of Emergency so I don't know if that means we can even get to the airport! :(

No matter what, we're going to see Mickey! Doesn't matter if we don't get there right when we thought, just want to get there safely. So please keep us in your thoughts for a safe and easy trip there! Once we're there, I know it can only get better!!! :lmao:
