Has anyone been to see this. We will be there on the day of this event and wondered what to expect. It's February 19 - February 22, 2015. Will anyone else be here at this time too?

Sensational Sights
Over the course of this multi-cultural event, certain areas of Disney California Adventure Park will be decked out with festive décor and a variety of continental colors.

Stroll along walkways where awe-inspiring ornamental lanterns have been woven into the walls for all passersby to enjoy. Look up and behold banners high in the sky—each presented in English, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese, wishing one and all a Happy Lunar New Year!

Entertainment for All Ages
Whether you’re celebrating with young ones or you are young-at-heart, be entertained by an impressive array of authentic performers. And look for a few familiar Disney Characters, dressed in their best and ready to take part in the fun.

I suspect it will be similar to the events for the past few years. It's cute, but not a huge event. It happens over by Ariel, on the walkway that leads to GRR. Local Asian-community groups set up tables that feature art work, activities, etc. Mickey and friends, robed in Asian inspired outfits, meet guests. Mulan and Mushu are also often available. Local dance troupes perform in the area across from Ariel's entrance.

Here's a report from last year:

I've seen it before a few years ago and I plan on visiting this year as well. As the previous poster mentioned it's cute but not a huge event.

thanks for posting! I was going to start a thread because my family and I are going on Saturday specifically to check out the Lunar New Year festivities.

My kid would love to be at DL for this.

We went to a children's museum that had their Lunar NY day on Presidents' Day. I suppose it was chosen for that day because of how many kids would have the day off and because a lot of the people brought in for the activities might have other commitments during the actual Lunar NY festivities. They had lion dances, paper lantern making, Chinese food (steam tray style), and storytelling about the Lunar Zodiac.

And just as an interesting sidenote, the Chinese word for the Zodiac symbol is called "yáng", which is actually a vague word that can mean anything from lamb, sheep, ram, or even goat unless it's qualified with a descriptor.

There are some interesting discussions of what year it is. The Lunar New Year is adopted by several Asian cultures, and a lot of what they consider depends on where they are and what animals they might raise. Sheep aren't commonly raised in Vietnam, so they're unambiguous that this is the year of the goat.

One of the more interesting versions is in Tibet, where they not only have a Zodiac animal, but assign an element (one of five) and gender.

Our family went today & had a really great time. We only went to California Adventure so that we didn't have to rush. We actually saw the Processional that had Mulan, Mushu, & several performers as well as the lion dancers (saw both performances TWICE). They also had their names written in calligraphy, made wishes, & ate pork sio bao & almond cookies. We wanted to do the character meet n greet (they had Mickey and Minnie, Chip and Dale, & Mushu. The wait was too long at an hour. They had face painting, but decided not to do that. They had paper lanterns that they colored.Would love to do this again next year!
