Do you even celebrate Father's Day in England? I know Mother's Day is actually called Mothering Sunday and is at a different time of year than ours. I've never heard anything about Father's Day.

Anyway...I'm here this morning grateful to have had the world's best Dad, and even more grateful to have a DH who does a fine job too. Happy Father's Day, DIS dads - you are VITAL to your kids and your wives. Keep up the good work.

Just referring to the fact that Mothering Sunday is (I believe) in the Bible whilst Fathers Day was thought up far more recently.

No, actually. The only "holidays" in the Bible are the Jewish festivals and this definitely isn't one of them.

That is interesting! Turns out the main purpose actually has no resemblance whatsoever to our Mother's Day, which is strictly to honor our Moms.

I'll share what my old Jewish Studies professor used to say: never forget that it doesn't take much to go from mothering to smothering. He also liked to point out that no one is ever described as ept (vs. inept) - yes I know about apt (and I suspect he did, as well).

Grew up with an Irish Catholic mother and never heard of mothering Sunday. Don't think it's a thing in the US.
