Happy Father's Day!

 Do you even celebrate Father's Day in England? I know Mother's Day is actually called Mothering Sunday and is at a different time of year than ours. I've never heard anything about Father's Day.

I've got no clue how that relates to Father's Day. :confused3

Anyway...I'm here this morning grateful to have had the world's best Dad, and even more grateful to have a DH who does a fine job too. :lovestruc Happy Father's Day, DIS dads - you are VITAL to your kids and your wives. Keep up the good work. :cheer2:
Just referring to the fact that Mothering Sunday is (I believe) in the Bible whilst Fathers Day was thought up far more recently.

[ETA] Could always be wrong. No reason NOT to celebrate Fathers Day for all the great Dads in the world!

I'll share what my old Jewish Studies professor used to say: never forget that it doesn't take much to go from mothering to smothering. He also liked to point out that no one is ever described as ept (vs. inept) - yes I know about apt (and I suspect he did, as well).

Dad and being able to celebrate today together sure has been an extra blessing to me from God. Happy Father's Day to everyone celebrating :)

Watched the US Open in memory of my father. Used to watch golf with him. Dang Rory blew it. I have no respect for the LIV golfers.

Ah, I see. See, you learn things.

The Wiki entry is interesting:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothering_Sunday
" celebrated since the Middle Ages in the United Kingdom, Ireland and some Commonwealth countries on the fourth Sunday in Lent. "

Grew up with an Irish Catholic mother and never heard of mothering Sunday. Don't think it's a thing in the US.
