Happy Easter! What Are Your Plans Today?

My parents have been here since Friday. My brother, sister in law and niece came for dinner yesterday so they could do dinner with my sister in laws family today. We had an little egg hunt for my niece and dinner was ham, sweet potato casserole, peas and a lasagna. Today we took my parents to brunch and we'll probably eat leftovers from yesterday when everyone gets hungry again. Low key day. They will head home tomorrow long after DH and I leave for work. My dad is older and not in the best of health so it's better to spread out the drive than have them come just for the day.

Went to my Aunts house for dinner. We ate lots of ham, had an egg hunt for those who had little ones, and after dinner we had a cupcake decorating contest. It was fun, we all got a plain cupcake and there were tons of toppings to decorate with (jelly beans, sprinkles, candy, mini cookies etc. It got very competitive and people teamed up. It was fun and the kids judged them!

DH and I are in Florida for my school’s Easter Break. We went to Mass at 10:00 and then had an nice meal out at 1:00. Since then we’ve been hanging out in our condo watching the Masters and looking at the ocean from our balcony. It was a little too cold and windy for the beach this afternoon. We’re going to make a charcuterie board for dinner.

As for our 2 adult kids, DD came home to spend Easter with her boyfriend. They went to Top Golf this afternoon. DS stayed at his house 1.5 hours away I’m not sure what his plans were. I left Easter baskets for all of them on my kitchen island when I left.

We went out for breakfast at 7am. Mass at 830.
After mass Dh and I took a long walk to help counter act all the extra calories today.
Ds and DD had fun looking for eggs hidden in our backyard.
It was 50 degrees and sunny, which in CT feels awesome. Dh and the kids played outside while I made dinner. After dinner DD5 sat next to me on the couch and fell asleep as soon as she put her against me.

Sounds like a great day, from start to finish.

We're were going to have the kids and grandkids over for the day and dinner. However, while on shift on Friday, Vince had to go to the hospital (one of the other ff/paramedics took him in their own ambulance) with severe abdominal pains. He is still there. I visited him yesterday. His wife, Katlyn, is going to go there again today. I am going out (about an hour drive) to pick up his 3 kids and bring them to our place. And then back later tonight. We will celebrate Easter, as well as Jeremy's 16th birthday today. So it will be Marie, all three grandkids and me. Vince and Katlyn in spirit, maybe a Zoom share.

Have a great day @ronandannette.
I hope your son is better soon. Sending prayers and well wishes to him.

We celebrated my Dad’s birthday which is tomorrow. We had a big spiral ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, Brussel sprouts, corn and rolls. I made margaritas on the rocks, which is my Dad’s favorite drink. We had cheesecake for his birthday cake and we sent him home with lots of leftovers.

We were missing our daughter who is away at college and was waitressing at an Easter brunch today.

My guest just left. Had turkey with all the dressing that went home with them since we are heading to Vegas tomorrow morning.

Need to pack now. Going to pack light since it is only 4 days. Here it’s going to be really hot there .

He is risen indeed! Happy Easter to all - how do you plan to celebrate?

We're in a season of life where no tradition stands; we play it by ear and accommodate everyone else's plans as best we can. Today we'll go to a joyfully raucous service at church at 11:00 (we usually go at 9:00) and then straight to a fancy brunch in a hotel ballroom with friends. Never done that before! This evening we're invited to feast with another group of friends; that's also off-the-norm because we usually host. I decorated the Easter table last night anyway, and about 1/2 of the treats have already been mowed down but I may just scarf a few for breakfast before anyone else gets up. :goodvibes

There's a lightness in my spirit and a song in my heart - I feel so fortunate to have plenty of loved ones to spend this happy day with, even if things aren't exactly how I would have planned them.

Happy Easter!
I must say, this is such a beautiful post. I hope you had a fabulous day. It made me smile just reading it, 😋

My plans, not much. My husband caught a cold, so he is complaining a lot, lol, I went back and forth on working, but ultimately decided I am just too tired. The storm, and losing power took a lot more energy than I realized, so I took a nice lazy day. Sat in the sun for about an hour, which felt amazing 🤩

We did have our ham dinner last night, and I am very thankful for that. 🙏
I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow at all. 😐

Nothing much planned because I have Covid for the 2nd time in 4 months! I’ve loved celebrating, but as a ChristIan Easter is so important to me and I just love celebrating in my church! But it could be much worse, and I could be much worse! Happy Easter to all and I truly hope you had a Wonderfully Blessed Day ❤️

It is so nice to see you back and posting again. :flower3: I think of you often, especially at times of the year like this. Grace and peace; and I hope you enjoy your dog. I was touched by what you said "he rescued us". I've known many people who would say the same thing and I think it's lovely that you've all found each other. :goodvibes

Aww you are so special ,❤️ it shows how caring you are . Thank you. Yes, I do tend to retreat at certain times, one coming up in 10 days.
Aww about the puppy, it certainly was meant to be. Right now it’s what keeps up going. I mean my son, but he is 27, busy in school, so we are often just passing by each other, he does not rely on us. Milo needs us, and we need him now 😍

In the Netherlands one of the most common things to do on Easter Monday is to go to places like Ikea. Many cities in NL have what we call 'furniture boulevard', where all the furniture stores are, stores for bathrooms, kitchens, household appliances. Years ago these were the only stores open on Easter Monday, and therefore it became the thing to do.

Entrance is free!

(I just returned from Ikea, crowds were surprisingly low)

I doubt anybody here has an Easter Monday tradition since the day isn’t recognized as a holiday. Easter’s over - back to work we go! And as for retail, it does vary some from region to region but where I am, nothing closed for Good Friday or Easter Sunday - some places had holiday hours but mostly just business as usual.

Yesterday was get up early, do church breakfast, church, lunch with mother in-law, cookout at home in the evening. It was exhausting, I am SO glad I scheduled a vacation day today to recover.

In NL we have 2 days for Easter, Pentecoste and Christmas. Perfect for families, one day with your dad's side of the family, one day for mom's side of the family!

Ascension is the time to take a long weekend away
King's day is to spend a day with friends or family if young kids.
Sinterklaas (5th of December) to celebrate with your family.

And that was the summary of Dutch national holidays 😀
