I just got word from my travel agent that I could save about 200 dollars on my November trip if I switched my ressies over to All Star Sports instead of Pop. I told her yes because it would have been silly of me to not save my money (considering I am only PRETENDING to be able to afford this trip ;) ). I have never stayed at either resort but I have heard that Pop is great. Will I hate all star sports??

So...considering I saved 200 dollars...what souvenears should I buy????

Pal Mickey!
Wow $200 is a big chunk of change just to swap to another resort in the same category. Congrats!

You did the right thing! I'm sure All Star Sports will be very comparable to Pop except of course for the theming. We have stayed at All Star Music a couple of times and enjoyed it very much - especially the food court!

Have a great trip and enjoy that extra $200! Sounds like you need to make ADR's for a special dinner or something! :)

We have stayed at Pop once...and I have been to the All Star Music years back. We did NOT like Pop but I thought Music was great (and I'm sure the Sports will be also).

Let me see...souvenirs...hmmm. I always have to buy a new CD or two (Disney that is) whilst there. A new shirt of some sort. My rule of thumb before I buy souvenirs...how much use will I get out of that...if I can say more than 5 times....I will buy it. :)

have a great time!

I agree with Cookie Princess and Esmerelda. We usuallly stay at All Star Movies or Music. On our last trip we stayed at the Pop to see what it was like. We didn't like it at all. We much prefer the All Star hotels!! We have said that we will not stay at Pop again.
Have fun. Just think of how you can spend that money elsewhere on your trip!!!! :goodvibes

You will have a great time at the All Star Sports! We are DVC members and our kids ALWAYS ask to stay at the All Stars. :rotfl:

Enjoy your $200! :cool1:

We prefer POP to All-Stars, the only advantage AS has over POP is the food courts. I would go to either if I had to though because it's WDW, who really cares about where you are staying.

I liked both just fine and would stay at whichever was cheaper. :earsgirl:

I have never been to POP, but we stayed at All Star Movies earlier this year. We loved it-- food court was convenient and fast, souvenir shop had a large variety and the buses were pretty quick. Actually, you're better off at the Sports, it is the 1st in line of the All Stars, so it's the first to pick up and first to drop off!

I've stayed at Sports three times and Pop one time. I enjoyed both. I would lean toward the All Stars because I don't think they feel as crowded. Pop is newer but if I could put $200 in my pocket there would be no question.

As to souveniers, I buy so few now. If something catches my eye then I buy it. I lean toward making my trips as cheaply as possible so I can use the money at home.

You definitely did the right thing. DH and I stayed at AS Sports a few years ago and it was great! We had no complaints!

Is this another option for you:
Book one night at POP (first or last night of holiday) as a room only booking and then book the rest of the days at the all star??

We stayed at ASMo 12/04 and definately do not have one complaint. It was fabulous and much more then we ever expected. When we heard a "value" resort we thought o no, what are we in for? Well, it exceeded ALL expectations and was amazing.

We are booked 12/31-1/8 at POP and if the chacne comes up that we can save $200 to switch over to an all star we will not hesitate but jump at the chance.

I love PC, but if I could save that much $, I'd switch. We don't really spend any amount of time at the resort anyway. PC is a much larger resort, maybe noiser ( I love the music, though), but they have their own buses. The AllStars all load up the same buses until they are too full, so if you are at the ASMo, you may not even get on the bus when it pulls up. I don't remember if the AS sports is the first bus stop or the second, but you shouldn't have the problem I just described.

You will love the AS sports, just keep thinking of all that money saved. If you want to take a walk, you can meander through all 3 of the AS resorts. We did that, visiting each of the pools. It was fun!
