Q: When did Mickey Mouse debut? When is his birthday?

A: The first Mickey Mouse cartoon made was "Plane Crazy," which was a silent film and was followed by several others. However, these were not the first Mickey Mouse cartoons shown.

The first Mickey Mouse cartoon shown to the public was "Steamboat Willie," which had its debut at the Colony Theatre in New York City on November 18, 1928. It was the first cartoon to have successfully synchronized sound, and was a big success.


Mickey went on to star in over 120 different cartoons, and also starred in "The Mickey Mouse Club" television show of the 1950s.


November 18, 1928, the date that "Steamboat Willie" debuted, is recognized as the official birthday of Mickey Mouse.
