Forty Two years ago today a customer walked into a London record store and asked the owner, Brian, if he had a copy of the record " My Bonnie ". Brian didn’t have the record in stock so he went to the The Cavern Club to check out the group that had recorded the song. Brian Epstein the London record store owner signed on to manage the group that called themselves " The Silver Beatles ".

This was not meant as a riddle.
No one recognized " The Beatles " in that story ?

Ummm... this is probably an urban legend ...told by Brian Epstein -- who was the manager of NEMS a Music store in LIVERPOOL which is where the Beatles played (they had not yet gone to London and had only just returned from Hamburg Germany). Supposedly Raymond Jones (who may or may not have ever existed) walked into the store looking for "My Bonnie" by the Beatles. A record that didn't exist (the Beatles backed singer Tony Sheridan for this song and went under the name of the Beat Brothers). When Epstein couldn't find the record (he prided himself on being able to provide ANY record that was requested), he and his assistant, Alistair Taylor, went to the Cavern Club at lunch to check out this band that he had (supposedly) never heard of (this too is debatable). He saw 4 sweaty boys in leather and offered to manage them (he had no managerial experience). The contract that was drawn up was never signed by Brian.

Anyone know the artist listed on "My Bonnie"? This IS a quiz.

Dan, please tell me that's part of your collection! You are a man after my heart! ;)

Well Dan wins that quiz, but that's not the record the way Brian Epstein's store sold it. Anyone know the label it was on?

:teeth:

And Congrats to Paul and Heather today! And health and long life to Beatrice Milly McCartney!

Well that's not EXACTLY it, but for heaven's sake Dan has jumped through enough hoops::yes:: Brian had the original single imported from Germany where it was originally released when the Beat Brothers( a name they never used except for the Polydor material) met up with Tony Sheridan during a Hamburg stint.

And yes, long live B Milly Mac.
