Happy and Mad!

When I first started dating DH he wasn't as good with money as I was. His credit was shot and I had excellent credit and my own house.
We purchased a new house before we were married and it was in my name only (I sold my house and had the cash to put on the new house-we weren't married so no way was his name going on the deed!).

7 years later we are moving! We just had our pre-qual done and they did a credit check. I am happy and mad at the fact that DH's credit score is about 5 points higher than mine! I guess I rubbed off positively on him!
They are both pretty good scores BTW-he didn't bring me down

The same thing just happened to me when we refinanced! DH is actually 10 points higher than mine. I was upset at first too and I can't figure out why his is higher. It must be due to who the primary person is on house/credit cards?? The house, Discover, Visa card and all bank accounts are in both our names. I have Kohls and JCPenney card but he has Lowes and Home Depot cards. And the Lowes and Home Depot are the ones with balances because of their 0% financing offers. Oh well, they are both still high scores. When I told DH, he said it wouldn't be that high if it wasn't for me. So I didn't stay upset long...

I know,it's hard to be 'mad'!
I have the HELOC in my name and it's been open for a few years now. I think that's negatively affecting my score because it's just a chunk of open credit.

Congrats! DH passed me by about 12 points. I can't be too mad since we got a great interest rate on our mortgage.

Glad there is hope. I am getting married next month and DF doesn't have very good credit right now. Fortunately everything is in my name and I have good credit. We just need to work on him.

LOL.. same thing happened to me recently. When we married everything was in my name because Dh had bad credit. Fast forward 9 years and we both apply for the same credit card and he gets a limit that is $2000 higher than mine
